COVID-19

Looking at the other states, most seem to follow a trend similar to Florida, that of a rapid rise in cases followed by a decline of a similar rate. Which would lend credence to the theory that the Delta variant moves in a wave of about two-ish months, quickly infecting susceptible people (those without natural immunity or a vaccine) and burning itself out. That'd make New York, not Florida, the outlier, perhaps suggesting that New York is doing a better job of containing the surge than Florida (that'd be a surprise). Also worth noting that the two states have similar populations (NYS: 19.4 million vs. Florida: 21.5 million), but Florida has fared much worse against the Delta variant. Most of New York's COVID deaths happened around April of last year, while about a third of Florida's deaths (over 18,000) have happened in just the past four months, even though vaccines and monoclonal antibodies were available.

Florida's drop in case rates is not indicative of anything they're doing right. When you hit bottom, there's only one way to go.

I did actually miss that this had happened.
I wonder what was happening around the world, because facebook just didn't crash in Australia for 6 hours. It was worldwide. must be the World Bank and those Jewish people in California that crashed it. That fits the conspiracy stuff, doesn't it. :)
Downdetector.com, a major monitoring service for online outages, called it the largest global outage it had ever recorded — with 10.6 million reports from around the world.

It took Facebook nearly six hours to get services back online, albeit slowly at first. Ironically, the outage was so pervasive Facebook had to resort to using Twitter, its rival platform, to get updates out into the world.

According to a report from The Verge referencing Facebook’s Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Infrastructure, it seems the problem was probably Facebook’s internal infrastructure.

Facebook engineers were sent to one of the company’s data centres in California to work on the problem, which implies they were unable to log in remotely to the data centre.

Experts have said the outage could have only have come from inside the company. It’s likely Facebook engineers inadvertently made changes to how the network is set up, creating a cascading set of problems.
This indeed happened worldwide on that date. I was talking about the outages that seemed to afflict only Australia around 20-26 September and not just on Facebook but on other major social media platforms as well.

First line of the link "Suddenly and inexplicably, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Oculus services were gone."

So tell me, what do the right wing conspiracy sites tell you why the outage was? If it was to shut down Melbourne, why did they shut down globally? Inquiring minds want to know.

Does Australia keep statistics like this? Even now, at a hospital in FL it is disproportionately unvaccinated taking up space in the hospital, in the ICU, using up ventilators, and in the morgue.
Yes, that's the same story here now. It is the unvaccinated that is filling up the ICU. Surprisingly we have passed the US in vaccination rate. We have only recently received vaccine in decent numbers and still have a long way to go.

Who is this information targeted at? Has anyone argued that vaccines do not lessen the severity of covid if it is contracted?
There’s been a steady argument that the virus isn’t so bad, the vaccine not so good, it’s wearing off, and look at all the cases, yada, yada, yada.

Who do you think the hospitals are targeting with the posts? I expect they’ve found that these graphical presentations of hard data on how many and who are sick, on what’s going on the ICU right now, cuts through the bullshit like nothing else.

The virus isn’t so bad for most of us. The vaccines aren’t so good as originally hoped/advertised. They do wear off pretty rapidly.

I’d like to see better information delivered to people at risk about vaccination. Old folks seem to have gotten the message. Fatties, not so much. Instead we have tyrannical mandates trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

Facebook owns all of those companies. Their worldwide outage that specific day is totally different than what happened in Australia two weeks previously. And it happened because of a server problem at Facebook which affected all of their companies.

You DO understand that Instagram and Twitter are different platforms, correct? And that these events happened several days apart?

For almost everyone, the virus isn’t so bad. And it is certainly not bad enough to justify turning the world upside down like what happened last year.

So where should the information go so the ones who need to see it, see it? Who should present it, that has credibility with that audience?
Not Fauci…Not Rochelle…Not Psaki…Not China Joe…

Liars have ZERO credibility so how about they start with somebody that’s honest and has integrity?
