FY 22 IWC DCO Reserve Board

I would take a look at the designations' info sheets and see if you think you'd like the job; e.g. here is the info sheet for an 1825 IP.

In terms of recruiters, my OR has been great but he doesn't have any connections to the Information Warfare Community. I thought about what I wanted to do, did a lot of research, and tracked down the people I wanted to talk to. If your OR is being helpful overall but can't find IWC resources, it's possible to stick with him/her but do the networking yourself.
May want to look into finding a new recruiter.

Most recruiters only have contact with those that will do the panel interview, that is when you will get to meet those that are in the field, it is not uncommon for each NRD to have an officer in the IWC that can answer questions though.

Each recruiters should know from working with previous DCO's what the panel interviewers will be looking for, that is very possibly why the recruiter is dodging the question about IP and steering him to EDO/CEC?

I can tell you with 100% certainty that when I was at the NRD if the OP with his background wanted to apply for IP/Intel/CW the OR would have discouraged him and tried to get him to go EDO, if he pushed then they would have to let him apply but the panel interview would give him a low recommendation if any as the panel interviewers where I was at would give a good recommendation for anyone that didn't have experience in the field. The OP's recruiter may have insight on what the panel interviewers want.

Thank you for that honest insight! It really does help. Unfortunately, I cant be considered for EDO since my undergrad degree (mechanical engineering technology) is excluded according to the PA, regardless of how many engineering certs I obtain. I am looking into CEC, but I need to pass a state examine before I can apply (again my undergrad degree is causing the issue).

I am just trying to see my options so I'm not limited to only 1 job that I could apply for.

In general it isn't uncommon for people to only have 1 job they can apply for, but yet again it depends on the view of the panel that does the initial interview, I would lump IWC into "1 job" as the qualifications are similar.

I would suggest asking here if anyone in the IWC field has commissioned through your NRD and see what their backgrounds are, that way you will know if your OR is not doing his job.

Finally received my Conditional release. Took about 2.5-3 months with at least a 2 months just trying ti get it out of my NOSC.

After this, what happens next? All my recruiter tells me is that they put it together with some other items and forward higher up chain for my ComDocs.

Anyone have a timeframe, generally, between this stage and being able to Commission? Need to start getting family travel plans together.

The NRC and NRD processors would handle that, I have seen them pushed out in a week or months just depending when they want you to commission.

I would ask in a week for the status.

You are in the home stretch.

One more question...
Check that document and look for IWC DCO. Those are the dates you want to follow. Anything DCO is for Reserves. Normally, packages are due to the recruiter a month before they go to the NRC to give time for losing stuff, and re-doing forms. I've seen it go down to the last possible date to get it turned in, but.... just don't be that applicant.
Or drop his 1815 packet and DCO as an O-3!

One more question...
Do you have your FE credential yet? That may be a requirement for EDO.

Also, even though the app allows you list up to five choices, reality is that three is understood to be the max.

If you're considering something IWC, it would good to do some digging and identify what you think you want to do, as the IWC is composed of more than just INTEL... On paper, you're qualified to apply, but may not be as competitive as someone who already works in the field. I've seen it go both ways, so don't let that stop you, prima facie. Just be able/ready to tell a more compelling story than the next applicant.
Replied to the wrong thread. Meant to add for the aspiring applicant to drop his pocket for 1815 and DCO as an O-3.

In the waiting room with you. Sent my RRA to my OR in early June and two weeks ago was told my OR is now on terminal leave. I contacted my processor and was told my status is still pending and was reminded it is a "long process".

Does anyone know if the Board convened for certain? The processor assigned to my packet mentioned that there had been significant delays and that he was not certain if the Sept 20 date would hold.

Otherwise, best of luck to everyone!

Can anyone confirm if there were / are going to be delays this go around?

There have been really not delays at all for the past several years that haven't existed before, a board date is just an estimate so it is normal for an occasional board to be cancelled or meet a week earlier or later so not sure what the processor is talking about.
