Leaving Vietnam vs AFG

Not quite enough years ago, there were bumper stickers floating around Louisiana that read “Vote for the Crook, It’s Important.” Convicted felon Edwin Edwards was in the runoff against KKK Scoutmaster or whatever the fuck David Duke. I think most moderate folks endorsement of Biden was less an endorsement than a desire to get Trump out of office.

I don’t think it’s mutually exclusive to be of that opinion (I was), and to also think this is one of the greater failures by a President (especially as a relative unforced error- there were lots of ways to exit Afghanistan in a less catastrophic way for our folks and for those that supported us) in decades.
People are dead. Clearly this calls for a divine wind of partisan bitching. Take your level-headedness and moderation somewhere else.

This is not a question of US policy/ involvement but rather one speculating on the future of Afghanistan. Will the Taliban be able to effectively govern the country or will it turn into some kind of civil war between the Taliban / ISIS / Northern Alliance? Also will China try and develop a supply of rare earth metals or will the building of infrastructure costs be too high / susceptible to damage to exploit?

There will be a time for accountability. Slinging your discontent towards elected officials on the shoulders of fallen Marines is classless.

You’re time/effort is better spent donating to a gold star family relief organization or gofundme page for those families getting the worst news of their lives right now.
I understand you're a Marine, and I am just as heart struck as anyone. If you are so emotionally distraught, then take a break from AW for awhile. Good call on donating to worthy organizations, would never have thought of that . . .

I don’t see anyone doing anything “on the shoulders of fallen Marines” here. People have been pointing out what a disaster we have blundered into for quite a while here. Now the embarrassing and shameful tragedy is more tragic. I’m not going to stop pointing out what a colossal fuck up this has been for our senior leadership now that it’s gotten our people killed. Hopefully it won’t get worse.

To each their own…

I think all if us could take a knee for bit.

The way they left Bagram was...odd. Sneaking out in the dark. Someday we'll maybe get a look at the intel they had suggesting why they thought it was the smart move.

Wow. I don’t think this is boomer energy.

Going outside of you chain of command to post a video like this while still being pissed off as a Marine because off an incident that happened a day earlier is unacceptable. As an O-5 he knows this. Not saying that I disagree with his sentiments, but this is not the way to express them.
