These are some strengths and stats for me, I’m very new to this site in general and new to what is competitive/what the Navy is looking for. Should I retake my ASTB or anticipate applying again? Definitely don’t have the experience or resume that prior active duty guys have.

Why are you trying to switch to USN, don't you have an obligation?

Why retake you have an 8 on PFAR right?

unlike the USAF you can have the best AD career but if your ASTB is crap you won't get selected, ASTB is king when it comes to USN aviation, seen guys selected that had high ASTB scores who had DUI's, admitted cocaine use, assaults, etc.....

No obligation since I’m not on scholarship…and yeah I’ve been reading through a shit ton of forums at the moment and I’m sticking with those scores. I’m switching to the Navy because I missed pilot in AFROTC

Hello all I was wondering if anyone with a waiver could enlighten me on the process.

I submitted my package for the 02AUG2021 board, however, like many here I was bumped to the 01NOV2021 proboard.

While I did not have an age waiver before since it may have been possible to commission before turning 32, I will need one now. Mr. Paul has been nice enough to provide me with a copy of the template.

I have a few questions regarding the process:

1. In the header portion of the template the number 1133 appears and I'm not exactly familiar with what that entails. I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to inform me.

2. Does the paperwork for the wavier require the waiver request itself and a separate letter from the CO endorsing the waiver? Or does the fact that the waiver request has been routed through the command count as a CO endorsement?

3. I understand that the waiver needs to be supplied to Mr. Paul and to respective Officer Community Managers (Pilot/NFO). Is Mr. Paul the person to route the letter for approval to Navy Recruiting Command or will that require a separate email?

4. Since the waiver isn't in the original OCS package that is being submitted to the 01NOV2021 board, am I required to resubmit the original package with the waiver or would Mr. Paul be able to place the waiver in the documents he already has?

On number 3 there was info that it has or is changing and now NRC is back to the approving authority, if now in effect that will make it quicker for you.

On number 4 it would need to go back to the originator and get resubmitted if you were not AD, however when it comes to AD they tend to help out much more so he should just add that to it.

Just remember that a waiver is just to be seen by the board, the board can still decline to accept the person with the waiver solely based on the waiver reason.

I was bumped from the August board to the November board because of my pending age waiver. I recently found out from my recruiter that my age waiver was approved. But can someone else along the way could reject or "gatekeep" my application before the board reviews it? Or does your above message just mean that the board could reject an applicant for any reason including age even if the age waiver was approved?

I think he means that even if your waiver is approved, the board can still reject your package if the reason for the waiver is subjectively deamed illegitimate. (From what I can gather a crude example would be: "I am applying for an age waiver because I wanted to spend my 20's partying instead of focusing on my career")

Question for you though. For your waiver, did your CO have to write a separate letter other than your request or was the fact that your waiver request was approved through your command indicative of your CO's endorsement.

CO wrote a separate letter, headlined “First Endorsement of Age Waiver”. So he filled out the eval-like section in the application, then a separate age waiver letter to go with my age waiver request letter. Then I submitted that with my complete application. Turn around to getting the age waiver approved was like 3 days, it was really quick. (I’m 33 with 9 years AD) I think that did push me to this board, since the waiver was approved a day after the application deadline, and is supposed to be approved prior to.

I'm in that boat right now. My first test in 2017 was a 44 5/5/5 and figured I should retest to make myself more competitive. I rushed it, and shot myself in the foot. I retest yesterday and got 53 5/4/5. OAR improved but in the process I made myself ineligible for pilot. Only thing I can do now is study like my life depends on it and take the test again next month or that's all she wrote for my chances of SNO/SNFO. I got books and have been super active in forum now.
