Will do! I think the luckiest I could get would be September 25 or October 5, but I’m not too hopeful.

Was able to get a hardship in. My employer is asking when I’m expecting my last day, so they’re looking to replace me already. Hopefully it’s enough to get me a priority spot for September.

I guess I should elaborate and I’m going to add on to this here because I don’t want to spam this beloved site. My intention is to retain anonymity with the blog, it’s just personal preference. That being said, any generic questions DM’d to me I would be more than willing to answer in an aggregated form blog post. I was at OCS during the pandemic so my experience is relatively recent. I also plan to document/share the journey through flight school and the Navy in general. I plan to use the blog as a humorous (debatable) creative outlet while also providing “good gouge”, if such a thing exists.

Looks like I’m in the 17OCT21 class. That puts me in Newport during Christmas/New Year’s holidays.

Does anyone know how Christmas/New Year’s is handled at OCS? Will I be able to leave to spend Christmas with my family? How many days leave do we receive if leave is offered?

If you dig a little bit on this site and google you'll find the answer. From what I understand, you won't be allowed off-base liberty unless you are in your candio phase. So, if you are in your last phase of OCS during the stand down, you get to go home. If i recall correctly, there is a 10-12 day stand down. So you'll be using leave for however many of those days you are away. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah it’s true. But honestly, when she did that with my class, it was a really nice break from screaming and doing burpees. Little chances like this to center yourself or whatever are worth taking. Same reason I encourage anyone, regardless of belief, to attend at least a couple religious services.

If interested, I recently started a segment covering all three phases of OCS: Indoc, JOC/SOC, and CandiO. I just finished the second one, Phases of OCS: Officer Candidate, and plan to write the final one on CandiO soon.

Anyone have the Gouge on how they're handling leave/transition between OCS and future stops? Specifically those going to Pensacola?

I had a week between grad and check in date, but that was a few months ago. Honestly, with covid changing it could be different from today to the day you graduate.
