Looking over my plans again it is sad how little I considered the heat in terms of just simple comfort. Because of the Rockies I selected the lowest altitude route via El Paso but even if I had pushed through the heat in AZ and NM, I would have hit another wall of storms in Texas and then a third here on the east coast. I don’t have enough time in type or with mountain flying to get too bold.

Wow, neat purchase. I know nothing really about the Enstrom, other than there are a bunch of them out there and a lot are used for advanced flight training/checkouts. You'll have to show us a panel pic the next time you have the chance.
Here’s the panel. The mount has been replaced with an iPad version and the transponder has been updated. The Enstrom is fun to fly and autorotations are comically easy. It’s not too fast but is quite roomy for a little helicopter.

That's a decent route, though, to avoid mountains. I recently was going from El Paso (just west of there) to Tucson, and I could have run along the border with no real terrain, but questionable weather, or go over the mountains on an airway. I made it to Tucson, but it was not a great ride with not great temps in the clouds. I should have taken the southern route.

But that was before summer, so I totally get why you're balancing comfort with "other" environmentals.

On day one it hit 125 in the cockpit
Now I guess I’ll try a series of weekend hops to move it closer in phases.
You obviously do not know how to fly in the desert summer heat. I can help. If you stop for gas in my backyard, I'll be happy to meet you with a cooler full of beer to get you through the heat of the day.

Sure, but is it a secure LZ?

Until the vibes go out and your beer gets all shook up. And hot out there getting thermally loaded in 125deg heat. Mmmm, hot foamy beer ?.
Hey, we are talking a combat zone. One makes allowances. You must be a REMF. Hot foamy beer settles down nicely during the chilling phase. You are just trying to degrade the morale of Grizlandia forces through disinformation.
