Same @ Whidbey. If I'd agreed to another tour at NAVAIRES, which I was already cutting short to go to VAQ-209, they waived flight safety at me. I'm still torn but like all things Navy, I'm sure I would have been screwed out of it.
There are still random opportunities for NFOs to get the C-12 qual. My old boss is the current CO of Fleet Activities Okinawa, and he went through Flight Safety. He was also in the running for an attaché gig, and mentioned that there are several attaché billets that have aircraft and therefore get the qual.

Can he fly the C-12 as PIC?

During a port call in Trinidad on TR circa 1990 met the Naval Liaison for the entire Caribbean . He had a C-12 he flew (A-7 guy) and they sent his wife to flight safety too so she could be SIC..... Yea, I'm never "that guy"

Been playing Ops weenie this month at work providing "Operational Control" for interagency flights - we've been busy doing vaccine transport missions to some fairly remote Indian Reservations for HHS and Indian Health Services. These are areas not even remotely serviced by 121 carriers or 135 operators. We provide the "operational control" under our FAA waiver so they can do these missions for hire under Part 91. Tasking comes through AFNORTH / 1st AF. Its fun watching the pilot volunteers execute - which they did really well and professionally.

Flying the vaccines are super bulky - lots of little coolers and then IHS and Pfizer folks accompany.

Nice pic one of the crews took flying the 8-seat G-8 at a whopping 120 KIAS.
