Big shocker of the night was that McCain is advocating the same strategy the Government used to "solve" the S&L crisis (which by the way, as a percentage of GDP was a greater hit to the economy than this FM/FM fiasco; 6.5% vs 5%).

Go away dude, you are becoming a real bore.

Are you serious? If it weren't for m0t putting up a resistance here, this whole thread would almost be seven pages of reassurance of Sen. McCain's victory. Would you rather just have unanimity here in the forum?

I welcome the dissent m0t provides, but I would prefer a cogent argument about issues germane to the election and the candidates' suitability for the presidency.

Arguing pronunciations is particularly inane, as both are acceptable in ENGLISH, according to Webster.

Do you write posts with a thesaurus by your side? :D

Agree with Squorch...McCain needs a game-changer and this wasn't it. A couple of thoughts:

Brokaw sucked IMO...instead of actually telling the candidates to shorten it up while they were talking, he kept on kvetching on how they were going over their alloted time as agreed upon by the two candidates. I wished he would have stopped whining and either shut up about it or actually stopped them while they were talking.

Making personal attacks in a forum like the "town hall" is a bad idea. You can go on the attack at a rally of your converted, but you try that when you are standing 10 feet away from your opponent and in a crowd of undecideds and it will fall flat. On a few of the cable shows they monitored audiences reactions and the numbers for McCain went way down when he attacked. He isn't trying to shore up the base (Palin has done that, for the most part), he is trying to get that 15% of independents/undecideds his way...and they don't seem to like the attacks. ANd trying a character attack at this point smacks of desperation.

Said it before, and I'll say it again...all Obama needed to do was look confident/presidential and not F' up to garner a win. The environment favors him:
1. An economic crisis favors the party out of power anyway, but the Dems do well on domestic policy
2. The current president has very low approval ratings
3. Sen McCain has run hard on the Iraq war, but it is not number one in voter's minds and the war is unpopular

Dull debate, but I give it to Obama who met the above criteria and had no blows landed on him.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you don't watch porn, you watch Fox News instead. Am I right? Nothing like hearing only your side of any argument to make you feel good about your beliefs. :icon_wink I think m0t's input is valuable, even if it tends to be a little soaked in left-flavored Kool-Aid occasionally. It offsets some of the right-flavored Kool-Aid in some of these threads.

i hate to say it, but what did you expect? There isn't an overabundance of varied opinion for sure...

I think Obama won, only because McCain didn't say/do anything outstanding and he needs to since he's behind in the polls; not because Obama did anything super awesome either.

Oh man, don't side with me, you'll never see the light at the end of the tunnel again.

It's not that I'm the only one putting up a resistance, I'm just admittedly doing it in a very candid, nonchalant manner because like many others, I thought this debate was a carbon copy of the first and was quite dull and uninspiring. There are plenty of people on these boards who are apt to put up a fight in a more sensible, intelligent manner than I did, no worries.

Don't take anything I say too seriously.

Even if I came in here and laid out my views in the absolute most polite, unabrasive, articulate manner conceivable I'd still take a heap of shit and negative rep for it. You can't take these threads too seriously because, well, you're just not going to off-set the status quo.

Mot relishes his iconoclast image here. He would marry a man just to get some grief from The Peoples. He doesnt offer any reasoning to support his man crush on Sen. Obama which makes him an easy target for everyone who can't understand why anyone would vote for Sen. Obama.

If you really want some differing opinion based on sound logic read Flash and HercDrivers posts. The down side is you actually have to READ their posts whereas just scanning one of Mot's will get your blood pressure up quick.

My man Mot!:icon_wink

Would you rather be left alone? Let me guess... requesting single-seat a/c?

@ m0t - I know there are others who are pulling from the center a good bit more than you are. I just thought that P_ubhi18's comment was completely backwards to the whole idea as to why A4s didn't just make it a no-discussion poll.

I don't take this stuff too seriously. I just have a hard time using smileys to show it.

The S&L crisis only cost about $160 billion, with the government shouldering about $125 billion. That is a lot less, even in percentage terms, than what this crisis will probably cost.

I agree with Herc, Senator Obama wins by default. He played it safe and had no gaffes, keeping his current lead. Other than that, rather boring.

Lol, I'm not going to touch half of this with a 10-foot pole, but if you really think I can't offer extremely long, drawn out, pontificated rationale as to why I'm voting for Obama then you're crazy dude. I simply chose not to bother with it because it's a lose-lose situation. I'm still going to get blasted for whatever I say.

I really don't know. What I do know, though, is that as long as A4s isn't in here yelling at me then I must be doing something right and it's relatively smooth sailing. Relatively.

I can never tell if selective ignorance is a comical retort or just a way of life with you, sir.

I'm still going to get blasted for whatever I say.

That's because you often say stupid shit, never make the right arguments, and don't learn jack-a-doodle-do from your opponents positions and beliefs. You don't adapt.

Also, your constant (serious) refereces to your female exploits are absurd.

What I do know, though, is that as long as A4s isn't in here yelling at me then I must be doing something right and it's relatively smooth sailing. Relatively.

It's when someone finally ignores you that they've given up completely...

That debate sucked. This whole race sucks.
