For any one in the purgatory phase waiting for a FS, what sort of information can you get when you ping your OR/processor for a status?

Just wondering so that I don't call up and ask some jackass question of "where am I in this mess".

I talked to my recruiter today. He said he is getting a lot of final select letters in around this time, but still nothing for me. He was able to tell me that I have been physically qualified though which is at least some progress. He didn't know for sure whether or not your background check has to be complete or just opened (I know my investigation is open, but have no idea how long it takes to finish a secret clearance). Fortunately he is pretty cool and doesn't me calling in every week to ask what's going on.

Thanks dude for the input. It seems to vary as PJ noted.

I already have a clearance so that is the least of my concerns.

Just wondering about any medical snags or my age (you know where a few of us stand in that respect).

I call to ask usually twice a week now...OR has kind of gotten used to it though. Says the medical stuff came back squeaky clean, so it's just waiting for the med review board to bless it, then BUPERS to cut a letter and be done with it.

If anything it just shows how motivated you are to get it done and be on your way to Newport!

Yeh, I hear you all. My OR is on leave, and I really don't want to bother him but will probably ping his mobile and/or shoot him an e-mail. He did volunteer the opportunity.

I hit all the POCs I know and left a messages as appropriate.

EDIT: Just spoke with the processor who said that my lab results should be forwarded any day now and that the entire package will be sent to OOM. That jives with the 7-10 window from my MEPS/PRT.

I'm supposed to get a call either this week or next week...

Anyone else have to do an interview regarding the security clearance? I know people don't usually have that done for just a secret clearance, but I guess I am just special/lucky.

It was pretty painless and only took a few minutes, but now I wonder how long it takes from this point to finish the clearance process. I am supposed to start preparing for my pre-lim exam and it would be nice to get a FS so I could drop before I do all that stuff.

No interviews here for me. When I applied OTS for the AF they had me interview for the applicatiion process. As for my Navy OCS security clearance, I dont even know what is going on with it. I signed letting it get investigated, that's as far as I know. My OR also hasn't mentioned anything of receiving a final select letter yet, or a need for something in my BG to check out.

Well I work as en engineer/construction manager right now. I just want a career in the military. I am not sure if I should try ARMY and fly there, but I want to BE in the NAVY and FLY for the NAVY.

So after getting pro-reced way back when, I am still stuck at med qualification because the Navy seems to think a hearing test that is qualifying by the NAMI standards online needs to be looked at by every single doctor in the entire command.....Woo...this is after the fact I went to MEPS way back in July before I even submitted my package......seems like you other guys are doing well...ah well hopefully I'll see at least a months BDCP pay before I graduate in May despite being in the app process due to med stuff since feb....

Well, I had a good conversation today with a Chief from my NRD.

They confirmed that I will need a waiver for OCS/NA/FO. They are going to try and push one through. The SC was definitely on top of her game, and she sounded good about it.

AV, there has to be a first for one of us right...?

Alex, something has to transpire from all this..... Did you write the waiver yet? So far I have overcome all obstacles presented to me with the process, now this one seems to be a higher wall and you and I have no control over it. We have to remain optimistic and hope that we will get to defend the nation doing what we love. I will know something by Monday close of the day. I am really hoping the person that approves the waiver see the potential..... It would be kick ass if you and I get into the October 18th class......
