Hehehe...got me on that one. When I was young....ger, I thought that tune was written for Jake and Elwood Blues.

"We have both types of music here, country and western."

Oh-and that 'every eastwood western' line wasn't a back door attempt to give Paint Your Wagons a go either.

Clint Eastwood westerns are the sh!t!! It took me a couple times watching High Plains drifter to figure out the story. BTW, it's 1 of 5 movies in the "man with no name" series. Can you name the others?

Good Bad Ugly is a classic. My wife-unit absolutely hates it, so I have to wait until she's away to watch it. Outlaw Josey Whales or Pale Rider have to be my favorites though.

Dirty Harry movies have the classic 'one-liners' that crack me up.

Now, I was under the impression that only the three Sergio Leone movies were officially the Man with No Name. I've heard the stranger in High Plains Drifter and the guy from Fistful, etc were supposed to be the same charcter, but I don't think I buy that now that I've seen it.
As far as the fifth one goes? You got me on that one.

And I concur. Josey Wales and Pale Rider were both solid flicks. Josey is a bad ass ("dying aint much of a living, boy"), but I've got to give it to the preacher for the scene at the end when he takes on the posse by himself.

Keep in mind that authors and movie studios often change characters - ex. Jack Ryan from "Hunt for Red October", "Patriot Games", "Clear and Present Danger", and "The Sum of All Fears". "Sum" was the latest one released, but the character is clearly younger (and more poorly played by Affleck) yet he is Jack Ryan nonetheless. Need another example? Bond, James Bond...

Since so many of you are Clint Eastwood fans .... in 1966 we-5 Midshipmen were sitting in the lobby bar (Hurricane Bar?) @ the Fairmont Hotel off Union Square when "The Man with No Name" walked in looking for someone .... we were there in our uniforms as we had to wear them on liberty in those days. All of us were under 21, but no one cared -- uniforms and all and in those days SF was a huge Navy town.

One of the guys pointed and said a little too loudly ... "HEY!! That's Clint Eastwood!!" The Man with No Name did a second-take, headfake --- looked at us again, and came over to the bar. He did his famous, "crinkly" smile, and said: "Yeah, I'll buy the Navy a drink." The bartender said: "Yessir, Mr. Eastwood."

He chatted for a couple of minutes, paid for our drinks, and then left. I've always like his movies ever since ...... :)

Here's my brush w/ Eastwood: He was standing two people ahead of me in the lift line at Sun Valley in the mid 80s. Also saw him driving around Ketchum in his red RX-7. I was old enough to know who he was, but too young to really appreciate his greatness. ;)
