Ellsworb...that is good information. 80 NSS...LOL. How about a 100 NSS. Should that do the trick?

Anyway, I see that this is your 5th post on this board and you joined in June of 04. What's up with that "Dude" :icon_tong

Peace,

Anyway,

To try to get back on track...

DaRevrend, is the word that an IFF bottleneck is the cause for the cut in 38 drops to the AF studs? Do you know of anyone at IFF right now who can attest to that?

Ya, I know I've got some time before I start...but small talk is always good. Ya know?

Peace,

Yeah, a 100 NSS would work. And 80 is not unattainable, my roommate in Corpus got a 71. And its impressive to see you take no suggestions any of us give. And in case you didn't know, the number of drops/selects/seats for a certain pipeline changes from FY to FY, and you probably won't select until FY 07, so honestly, QUIT WORYING ABOUT IT SO MUCH.

Greg,

Ellsworb's comment was sarcastic. Yours was not. I think it is pretty low when someone walks in here and contributes 5 posts after being a member for over a year. You agree?

Your post was informative and I thank you for that Greg. I will and do accept what you said. That's awesome that your roommate got a 71! Must have really busted his ass. Quite impressive indeed.

Hey...no hard feelings to you guys who have supplied me with good info and for contributing to airwarriors. I do appreciate it.

Anyway. Thanks for the input.

Sure thing man. And good luck with your desire. Just don't get too narrow sighted and leave out other platforms. I went into ROTC wanting jets, but as soon as I started primary, helos became my first choice. Even though I'm only 7 flights into advanced, I love the fact I got helos.

Primary NSS = way overrated, garauntees the slot you want, never garauntees your success

That sounds just like the AF's ENJJPT program. Even if you are a "bottom of the barrel" guy, you're still guaranteed a 38 and a Fighter/Bomber track select.

Crazy Stuff

Thriller,

I'm not entirely sure where the bottleneck is right now. I know that the IFF classes have been a couple of studs smaller, but an IP there says everything is running on time (but I still hear stories from studs waiting 3+ months to get into IFF). Rumor, and this like many things on message boards is second hand unconfirmed, has it that the backup is at the FTUs right now and finally trickled down far enough to tweak the 38 drops for a bit.

Once again quit sweating it, and good luck with your base assignment...a cadre friend of mine has seen the list, so it'll hit ROTC wide soon enough. Let us know if you do get NASWF, just for the hell of it.

It's possible to get over 80... but like brd said, after primary no one gives a ****.

Yep, no one cares what your NSS was in Primary. I've seen high-NSS guys get in trouble here in TS, and I've seen low-NSS guys rock it.

DaRevrend,

Hey that is some good info. I think you hit the "nail on the head" about it being at the FTU level. That just makes more sense. I know of a few who are at Dyess right now with the BONE. The problem there is that they have to many studs and not enough qualified IP's. The weird thing is that it has been that way for over 2 years now. I guess the same thing has been happening in the other fighter and bomber FTUs recently.

Well, depending on how long the cut back is for...we will probably see a brief period of time where studs are receiving a decent drop of 38's. It's all about timing.

Do the grades in API effect your choices out of primary? Do grades matter at all at API as long as you pass?

Sweet... BAT21 is on right now. I think that is what its called.

Not unless you're doing poorly and they look at your API grades to decide whether to keep you or not. API grades don't have any bearing on primary selection, as I understand it.

Thought this might be a good place to post this but VT-3 isn't picking up any students this next week and possibly not on the 21st either so the primary wait just got longer...

Hey Rev - where are you working at Hurlburt? Any chance I can get stashed there? (My house is a helluva lot closer to Hurby than P'cola.)

BTW, what's the schedule like with API? Is commuting from Navarre out of the question? (I sign in next Monday at P'cola and start the wait for API.)

130Gunner- With a user name like yours it is funny that you would be the one to ask me that. I am working with the H model gunship drivers, along with every other crew member that makes that plane such a lethal beast. I have no clue if you can get stashed at Hurlburt while under the Navy's control. I would suggest trying to just phone muster first, and then ask about a possible stash job here. If you are an Air Force pilot candidate, I wouldn't worry too much about the wait before API. Last I heard the wait for AF pilot wannabes isn't so much to get into API as it is to get into the log jam that is VT-3 after you complete API. This is all just second hand info from people that recently finished API, and you are soon to be the expert, so keep us in the loop.

As far as commuting from Navarre I would say that it is very doable during API (might get old going to NASWF during primary though). Studs commute to API from Milton all the time, which I think might even be a longer drive than Navarre. Downside might be finding people to carpool with. Best of luck on a short wait and doing well in API.
