You guys are poking fun at this but its a big deal in the AF - maybe @HuggyU2 can comment - but apparently its been a need identified by pilots for a while. Its interesting that this weapon will first go in the F-22. The AF spent a shitload of $ and engineering effort on this. Maybe they know something we don't?

I always find the culture war differences between AF and Naval Aviation interesting.

Big difference between a need and a want, given the history I cited earlier in this thread I seriously doubt there is really a 'need' for this other than to boost morale.
