^ Uhm...what did you say? Through all your flawless grammar skills I lost the meaning behind what you said. Are you trying to insult me?

it happened ... you're a Hornet guy, ask around, MAG-31, a few years ago ... i heard it from several IP's

as for flying with WSO's ... it depends, if you got a sqd with good "elder" wso's that makes the nugget pilot do everything (in order to learn) then it's a great deal, with someone in your backseat to "correct" you if you do something "wrong" ...

WOW, that just absolutely blows my mind. What a frickin tool. there has to be more too the story, I'll certainly be asking around. Maybe he was still drunk from the night before and felt safe with a backseater but not safe alone. He could have been afraid to admit he busted bottle to brief like a big dog so he had to say something, and that's all he could think of. Bet he wishes he'd have thought of something else. That's the stuff legends are made of, and I don't mean the good kind.

Well obviously the F-14 and F/A-18 must be close. I hear the rate of turn has been increased in the F-18E/F since they added 40% more surface to it. Bigger lax. Both jets do have a 7.33G limit(not sure about the F-18E/F thought). The F-14 does have a lot more speed than the F-18. What I have read in a magazine from a test pilot is that the F-14 has better performance, and the F-18 has better avionics. He said if he had to take either the F-14 or F-18 into combat he would pick the F-18 because the avionics which make up for its loss of performance. That sounds about right anyways, the F-14 is 30years old, and even the F-14D i hear lacks the avionics. I have also read that the F-14 is much, much heavier now and less manueverable. I have read somewhere that now it compares to the F-4 but im finding thats bs because I also hear the opposite, that it has the best performance over almost any fighter. I guess if you want an answer to which aircraft is better, you first have to ask yourself, what would I rather fly, an aircraft with Awesome performance and low avionics or a lower performance jet that lacks the speed but has better avionics? Personally I would rather fly an aircraft with better avionics because it can make your job much easier when your in combat, but i still love the 14s. You dont have to take my word, im only in high school but read lots about jets, and ive read many debates like this. I also read an artical almost the same to the other one I was talking about. this one was about the F-16 vs. F-18 and that instructor also said he would take the F-18 because of its avionics. Does the aircraft have avionics that good to even make up for the F-16s performance. Geeze must be pretty darn good...

I don't know how accurate what you just said is, but it sounded really educated. In your other posts about your aspirations of being an aviator you sound like a very young kid. That is why I question who you claim to be. If you are who you say you are good luck and I wish the best for you......but, as you can see, I am highly skeptical!

Did you get all that from the "Tomcat vs Hornet" special edition of AirForces Monthly? I just got it yesterday from Border's. Actually, I think I might get another one and put it up in some plastic...I collect aviation stuf from WWII, so some day maybe someone else will want this magazine comparing two 'old early 21st century' Navy fighters =)

hey i knew lotsa **** about planes when I was in high school. You'd be surprised how much lil kids know about military stuff, especially if they're military brats.

Anyone can learn just about anything about everything. But, his grammar and the maturity of his post from his other topic compared to this one is much different.

read 'John Boyd, The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War'. His 2 cents on the Hornet and my pops plane the F-111 are worth. In regards to Energy due to maneuverability principles, the design of the hornet and the fighting falcon were based on John Boyds principles and idea of the ultimate fighter. You will learn allot from this book, and you can gather your own opinions. From the maintenance side, all I have to say is F-14, some still have capton wiring, for those of you that have no clue what that is, it's crap and one of the reason the Tomturkeys have had so many electrical issues in the past. Just a lowly AE's 2 cents.

I heard this once and it helped with this popular argument. The Tomacat is like a old muscle car quick and powerful but a pain to keep running due to its age. The Hornet is like a modern sports car not as quick, but more agile and easier to fix.
