Emory S. Land is conducting a homeport shift from Bremerton, Wash., to Diego Garcia.
When did they start homeporting ships at Dodge? It used to be a one year unaccompanied tour. Have they built up the facilities on the island to put dependent's there too?

But still has Navy crew onbaord too including the CO.
Small world! So is Bunk, but suspect they are about ready to throw him back at Navy.

From what I've gathered it will still be a 12 month unaccompanied tour for those assigned to the ship.

Has this been done before? MSC having control but keeping it a United States Ship?

Don't quote me on it, but seem to recall it has to do with whether ships have grey or black hulls whether there is a USN officer in command or a MSC master, but they tend to have civilian crews. First I've heard they are taking on the Submarine Tender business, but kinda makes sense. Here's the poster of their 112 ships, which does include two Submarine Tenders and the Mt Whitney (Fleet Command Ship).

Individual Augmentee. More than likely with an Army unit, given his Joint Service Commendation medal...

He could have earned his Naval Parachutist wings while a USNA or NROTC Midshipman.
