The Great Flight Jacket Thread (wearing/buying Leather, NOMEX, WEP jackets/patches)

I emailed the uniform office just to prove a point.

Also because if someone wanted to hard line the new “rules” it would require people to remove their old patches and leave holes.

I looked at mine, Valley Clothing was the maker.

I did have to have some of the stitching redone after 4-5 years of wear. It was like 100 bucks to have a jacket shop take out of old ones and replace them, but I believe mine was made in the 80s or 90s and sat in the bag for at least a few decades.

Does this mean that you have to have a US flag? I feel like it looks odd to have a patch on one side and not the other.
 
And because the flag patches commonly worn now on the jacket are much larger than the 2x3 patch worn on the flight suit.

Seems different from what was sent out earlier as well.
 
The other dumb thing is that the SWO leather jacket can be worn with summer whites and service dress blues, but not the brown G-1. If youre in your office I truly don't think anyone would care but dress blues with the G-1 would look incredible.

Norva/Oceana in 1980's this was pretty common. SDB's, white shirt with epealuts (a fairly new thing) , sans SDB jacket and G-1.

An alternative to Winter Blue. Which didn't look bad with G1 as well.

If you sauntered in to the ASWOC at NAS Brunswick, the unofficial SDB/G1 combo was near universal.

Patch jackets were always a thing. You just needed confidence to rock it.
