sTUPID qUESTIONS aBOUT ocs

For the priors who went to OCS.. Is it worth getting new NWUS, PT Gear..etc before going? or just buy it all there when it comes time for issuing day.
Absolutely go to a NMCRS thrift shop and buy everything you possibly can, with an OCS acceptance letter you can buy O stuff although no one checked just sold it to me. You’ll save thousands and everything I got passed the once-over inspection the RDCs or whatever they’re called gave them.

I think I paid $5 for my dress blues.

Ahh yes I found the calculator website with a .mil link so that has helped a lot thank you

Also, check out the OCS website but last I checked and remembered you needed a GOOD-LOW or better. Also, assuming your working with a recruiter, have them get you in touch with a local OHARP or two to help mentor you in person (if possible).

When I was going through recently you needed Sat Medium to pass the initial PFA and Good Low to pass the mid and out PFA.
Been meaning to ask this: how was the PFA administered/how much time between events? I took multiple PT tests in a previous job, and they had to explain each event by the book every time we tested, and that led to about 5-10 minutes between each event. Just want to get a better idea for accuracy when prepping on my own.

You can find guidance for exactly how the PRT is conducted online if you look up 2026 Navy Physical Readiness Standards. Your description is pretty close though. Stretch - Pushups - short rest - Planks - short rest - Run - stretch.

When I was at OCS there was very little time in between. 1st group did push-ups and then right after 2nd group went. Maybe 30 seconds later 1st group did planks then 2nd group. A few minutes to get ready for the run then we all did that together.

Is it more or less common that you get less than the 5 minutes between events instructed or get the actual 5-15 minutes while doing the initial PRT and ending PRT tests?

EDIT: To add, I just want to be able to best simulate / prepare for what's actually expected of me vs what the instructions say.

I have Polish dual citizenship - I’m considering getting it renounced before heading into OCS to avoid having issues later down the line.

I only have it via my parents, who were Polish citizens and then immigrated and got naturalized, I never applied for it (jure sanguinis). My only passport expired when I was a wee lil baby. My background interview went swimmingly well regarding this matter too.

Am I gonna get shafted for not doing it before OCS??

I’m considering starting the process now because it’s egregiously long and needs direct approval via the Polish president and other shenanigans
