I honestly think some of the worst yelling was at the galley…hell, after FF box lunches didn’t seem too bad, I wanted to avoid Ney Hall as much as possible

I was there not even a year ago and they were definitely yelling at us. Granted only the red/blue ropes and DIs would yell. More specifically at their own class. Once you got into the later stages they pretty much stopped yelling, but more because we weren't messing up as much and just further through the program. But if you were to go in first week of indoc it's still a show.
Can confirm. There was still yelling.
Please visit every 3rd Friday if you wish to see *extra* yelling.

"Stupid" question, but when/why did the drill instructors and RDCs stop yelling at candidates in the galley? I'm in Newport for a class and that's no longer a thing (honestly a good change to be honest). I don't even see the DIs out and about even marching with the candidates around the base, which has been very odd!
Some RDCs and DIs like yelling in the chow hall more than others. I graduated earlier this year and there was almost always someone yelling.

Anyone who has been to OCS in the winter months... How awful is the weather? Do you PT inside most often? Looking at a class date in January and just looking for insight as to what to expect

Winter time at OCS is slept on.
Personally, I thought it was the best time of the year to go.

A lot of subtle pros such as watches getting secured, lack of marching and limited wearing of khakis.

Biggest cons is the cold. If you aren't from the south, its not that bad. If you are from the south, you'll adapt.

Did any priors who did a flight physical for application and received a NAMI qualified letter before OCS, have to re-do their flight physical before going? I figure they're going to re-do everything at OCS regardless of if my flight physical is current. Mine will be over 1 yr old. Thanks.

Not a prior nor did I have a qualified letter. Speaking on observations.

If you have a NAMI qualified letter for your designator (SNA/SNFO), and its still eligible, you don't need to redo your flight physical.

If you have a NAMI qualified letter for another community RS/Aircrew ect, you will redo everything as if you've never been to NAMI before.

Also to piggyback to that. Even if NAMI qualified for pilot/NFO…you’ll still go to medical anyways and get the “general” physical done anyways, piss test, blood work etc
Do you remember if that NAMI letter has an expiration date of a year or something? There is no exp date on mine, but I'm assuming its a yearly thing.

I'm not familiar with the OCS admin minutia, so is this a waiver letter or something else? Waivers typically have a blurb on them for when they need to be submitted for review (typically annually). This isn't something you do, it's done by your FS during your flight physical (assuming it doesn't require a specialist, which as an applicant, you shouldn't need).

If it's some other letter that just says "you're good," then as mentioned, NAMI will want to get their chunk of flesh from you because no one can possibly do a flight physical like NAMI.

No Sir, this is not a waiver. It is a letter from NAMI Dept 53HN that says im PQ for SNA and SNFO. My 2708-1 and 2808 were sent to NAMI from my flight doc and they returned this letter to me 2 months later. I have no idea if this is standard for all AD applicants.
