Road to 350: What Does the US Navy Do Anyway?

Apparently the fact the new 'battleship' would not be delivered by 2028 may have been a factor in SECNAV's relief, possibly not helped by the Secretary suggesting utilizing foreign shipyards to meet the timeline.
"Earlier this month, Mr. Hegseth and Mr. Feinberg told Mr. Trump that the Navy secretary was not a team player and needed to go, military officials said. Mr. Trump called Mr. Phelan to talk about his poor relationship with other leaders in the Pentagon."

Multiple sources are reporting that the resignation / firing was over a personality conflict between SECDEF and SECNAV. Hegseth resented that Phelan had a direct line / relationship with the President.

Apparently Hung Cao is the new SecNav.
Acting... would probably be confirmed due to his military background. He's kind of a kook, and being a marginally successful Navy O6 hardly qualifies him for the job, but we know qualifications aren't important to this admin. Maybe there's still hope for Hendrix after all. :D

FIFY, sadly.
Fair enough, but I'm tired of the assembly line of 4-star SECDEF / SECNAVs with Congressional waivers. Let alone Brett denigrating the ~1% of AD Navy servicemembers who make O6.

While I'm not a fan of Hegseth, specifically, I am a fan of Trump's mentality that it's time to insert leadership that isn't corrupted by decades of inner-beltway disease and programmed how to think by JPME. He made that mistake with Mattis, who failed spectacularly as SECDEF.
