Do you know what the MILPERSMAN is in regards to officer severance? I came across it before, but can't seem to find it.
There's a few of them. Check out MILPERSMAN 1920-20 through 1920-60. FYI....1920-60 covers the calculation of severance if that's what you're after. The others cover eligibility and various requirements.

For the internet impaired (due to Ike Net), what would a passed over LT over 10 get if I were to FOS?

Just curious, and this topic came up in the plane yesterday on the triple cycle to nowhere.

Here's the formula = 10% * Monthly Base pay * Months of active duty served (fractions of a month disregarded).

So, An LT with 10 years:

0.10 * $5539 * 120 months = $66,468 before taxes

Or I could go on a year long motorcycle trip thru Europe with that kind of money.. Of course, I'd just stop paying alimony. And the ex's mortgage, but I could make that last a year and then some.

At the risk of getting involved in a discussion re: your ex.

THAT's a road I'd travel -- cash out EVERYTHING and become 'invisible'. I know at least one guy who's gone that route (no pun) ...

I even considered it myself ... until I realized it was semi-crazy. But still ... :)

Whew. Missed the cut. Lobotamy and soul-ectomy on hold for at least another year, unless they decide to go below zone for some reason.

/2 more EWS modules to go, maybe I'll be ready by next summer. Oh wait, the meantime will be spent in Afghanistan. Yay.

In-Zone, passed over for LCDR.

Anyone got that phone number for Truckmasters?

Informed of FOS, Manatee causing trouble and told "no" for being an Aircraft Commander all in the same day. Oh, and I'm still on the fucking Ike.

Oh, while he's not a Mod, Mumbles got passed over too.. I saw 3 dudes I know with DUIs and 1 dude with a DUI AND multiple PRT failures screen.. Had me going "What the fuck".

The CO told me "If an IA pops, it's you" as the non-screen 18 months left in the Navy dude.

^ The semi-good news is that I believe the airlines will be hiring in full swing by then. And with the new law that is about to be passed requiring a minimum of 1500 hours and an ATP to work for an airline, your competition just weakened.

Make sure you keep a civilian log showing the FAR part 61.51 sole manipulator of the controls PIC for your ATP requirements. Airlines don't like this type of PIC time, but the FAA does.

Your CO is an asshole if he's not making you an aircraft commander because of the FOS.

The no CAPC (think HAC/PPC for E-2s) is from my squadrons ever changing ACTC lack of instruction.

The 2 JO CAPCs made it in under a year with no previous time. I have 1700 Navy flight hours.. NATOPS qual in 6 TMS, Aircraft Commander time in all of them, and a full cruise.

For comparison.. In the 60B, which I had an actual tactical qual in, I made HAC with ~400 hours in the 60B plus flight school. I now have 650 hours in the E-2.. And they won't even give me a board, even though I meet all the "on paper" ACTC requirements and have more than twice the OPNAV required times. Because I "have not seen enough"..

Comptuex, and a 7 month deployment.. 100 traps (40 night) with a 3.45 GPA and 100% Boarding Rate. 2 single engine boat landings (one night).

I've "not seen enough"..

(I'm just a tad bitter today.. On the plus side, Phrogpilot73 has made me a "Bitter JO" IIPA for my homecoming, which is Tuesday)
