Links? Say, you're top three.

LSO already gave you a good steer, but what exactly are you looking for in particular? If you don't know the Early Bird is a good place to start to figure that out.

I received my first Brief today. There's a nice variety of subjects. I'm mostly leaning toward news about the MEU/ARGs.

Applying for DCO as a non-prior service. I find out in January. Which (if any) of these books would be good to read if I'm selected?

I could drop $200 or whatever on them all, but the bigger question to me is whether the info is useful or not. The reviews on Amazon weren't very helpful - and also, I value this forum's perspective/gouge. Also, please feel free to suggest books not listed here.

I wouldn't blow a bunch of cash on that kind of thing, thinking you're going to set yourself up with a bunch of practical knowledges. A lot of those kinds of books are generally found strewn around the readyroom. If you get one, I'd recommend any of the first three you listed, and not the writing oriented ones. ADM "Sandy" Winnefeld (recent VCJCS) is one smart motherfucker.

The Professional Naval Officer will explain much about Navy culture and work styles. Everything else isn't worth it.

Is there an equivalent for the USMC?

The Marine Officer's Guide is nuts and bolts. http://www.amazon.com/Marine-Officers-Guide-7th-Edition/dp/1591142393

The Marines by John de St Jorre is culture and ethos. http://www.amazon.com/Marines-John-...49495410&sr=1-1&keywords=the+marines+st+jorre
