As for shipboard duties—I've heard non-PAO officers get stuck with public affairs stuff. That'd be right up my alley for collateral duties. I'm a PR major and that's the field I'd be pursuing if I didn't feel like getting the eff away from offices and into a more exciting career path. But all eyes on OCS right now.
