No more 'Ouija' Board

I'm thinking paper charts will always be around because you can write on them and reconstruct the problem later.
I think everyone has had an issue with 'trons' getting lost at some point. (For example, technicians just found over 22K emails from the Bush Administration yesterday)
Since missions such as SAR, ASW and MIO rely on accurate recreation later on, I would suspect that every ship captain is going to have a paper copy of the event going in addition to whatever whiz-bang electronic creation the Navy comes up with next.

Make that 22 million recovered emails.

Yes, but did it make you travel back in time also??

Continuing the Sci-fi reference when Ron Moore (who was in the Navy) recreated the Battlestar Galactica series (and made it pretty damn cool) he made sure to use the grease pencil tactical plots and the Ouija boards in the ships CIC, he said in an interview that when "people build warships in space they will understand that computers fail and not to rely on them."...or something to that effect...

Carrier ‘Ouija boards’ finally going digital

Anyone done any work on this thing?

For what it's worth, I spent a VERY little time on CVN-71 this summer (in port in Norfolk) and those guys said they would not be transitioning, and even if they had to, they'd be continuing the use of the "Ouija" Board.

No digital Ouija Board in sight here...
