No, no. It's an ancient Japanese sword-fighting style, popularized during the Shogunate. Based on a highly modified form of kendo, it places more emphasis on strategy than speed and raw strength; thus, it was more suited for aging samurai. During WWII, it briefly regained popularity as a fighting style for women, but was outlawed by the Allied occupation authorities in 1946 and has never really recovered. Today, there are approximately 2500 practicioners, mostly on Honshu, though a few dojos have opened in Hawaii and California in the last ten years.
