Hey all, I'm new to this forum...my stats are below in keeping with the format and content of this thread.
I'm trying to guage what the Navy experience will be like. I originally was looking to go to Marine OCS on an air contract, but I recently found out they will not be issuing them for awhile, and as I originally wanted to go this January and had most of my packet together, I really don't want to wait around another year plus for a shot at flight school. I feel like my next best bet at a shot at flying would be in the Navy. I wanna pilot the Hornet (as I'm sure does everyone else who applies does).

I was very familiar with the Marine OCS process and what they were screening for, but I really have no perspective on Navy. In order to be accepted, how much does your PFT factor into the board's decision? I'm posting around a 250-265 on Marine PFT, and I was looking at the standards and they don't seem quite as strenuous (1.5 mile run as opposed to 3 mile run, 25-20 dead hang pullups as opposed to pushups, max crunches in 2 minutes for both I believe). Marines place huuuuge emphasis on the PFT and only want you to pass the ASTB; was wondering how the Navy board would weigh the fitness assessment into their decision vs. the ASTB score et al (I am taking the ASTB again, with the goal of posting a highly competitive score, should be able to boost the scores second time around up at least 1, I expect a 7-8-7 at least).
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
(I would say Semper Fi here, but is there something Navy folks say instead? Gotta familiarize myself with the new lingo haha...Hooyah! perhaps?)
