Hey all, I'm new to this forum...my stats are below in keeping with the format and content of this thread.

I'm trying to guage what the Navy experience will be like. I originally was looking to go to Marine OCS on an air contract, but I recently found out they will not be issuing them for awhile, and as I originally wanted to go this January and had most of my packet together, I really don't want to wait around another year plus for a shot at flight school. I feel like my next best bet at a shot at flying would be in the Navy. I wanna pilot the Hornet (as I'm sure does everyone else who applies does).

M/23
New York University, Stern Business School
B.S. Marketing, Producing
GPA: 2.98
SAT: 1360
ASTB: 6-7-6
Marine PFT (Pullups, Run, Crunches): ~260
MEPS: Passed, 20/20 Vision
Cycloplegic Eye Exam: Passed, 20/20 Vision
Recommendations:
LtCol USMC (active, helo pilot)
Col Army (retired, West Point)
Business Law Prof.
Senior Ethics Prof.
Dean of School
Extra-curriculars: A whole lotta baseball, including high school and college competitive, leadership roles in student organizations, etc.

I was very familiar with the Marine OCS process and what they were screening for, but I really have no perspective on Navy. In order to be accepted, how much does your PFT factor into the board's decision? I'm posting around a 250-265 on Marine PFT, and I was looking at the standards and they don't seem quite as strenuous (1.5 mile run as opposed to 3 mile run, 25-20 dead hang pullups as opposed to pushups, max crunches in 2 minutes for both I believe). Marines place huuuuge emphasis on the PFT and only want you to pass the ASTB; was wondering how the Navy board would weigh the fitness assessment into their decision vs. the ASTB score et al (I am taking the ASTB again, with the goal of posting a highly competitive score, should be able to boost the scores second time around up at least 1, I expect a 7-8-7 at least).

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
(I would say Semper Fi here, but is there something Navy folks say instead? Gotta familiarize myself with the new lingo haha...Hooyah! perhaps?)

I'm pretty sure the PRT doesn't factor into the selection process for the navy. I brought it up to my recruiter and she said its a pass fail thing and its done after you are pro recc'd.

PS-There was a really low selection rate for the Jan board. I've been checking out some of the guys stats that weren't pro reccd and thanking my lucky stars I was 3 days late for Jan board.

i heard for this board they are accepting 50 out of all applicants for pilot. I just hope they see something in my motivational statement or something because everyones stats are so good.

Hooyah is the Navy version of Hoorah (however the Marines spell it). Big around the SPECOP's guys, I'm slowly hearing it around other Sailors too (personally preferred over the Hooah heard after a Sailor comes back from IA)

Here are my stats below in case I am seen in March. Some info has changed (like awards), but this is what the board will see. Here is hoping to be seen this month, or maybe by the mythical board in FEB. Bit frustrated after missing the NOV boards and not seen in JAN.....
