And as far as the training goes, I think they try to get everyone in who turns 21 while at the Academy. I do not think the people who come in past 21 years receive the alcohol training - but I might be totally wrong - it's just my undertanding of it.

As I look at the Black "N" hanging in my closet, I (and 70+ members of the 5th Company) am reminded that 1) you must be 21 to drink, 2) Plebes cannot drink, and 3) upper-classmen shall not give their Plebes beer.

9th Company (If I recall correctly) learned these same lessons last year while at the Poinsettia Bowl. Could be wrong on the company though, I'm in 2nd Reg.

They need to get the firstie club back. There was nothing better than having a Forestall lecture and then racing over to the firstie club to double fist pitches of beer because you don't have any homework due the next day...

Ah being an aero major had its perks sometimes...

Anybody here recall "Buzzy's Pizza"? They served anybody in the late 60's no matter the age.......and the pizza was good too. ;)

It was kinda convenient to hear the announcement over the 1MC, "Restriction muster goes on 8-3 in 29th company spaces. . ."

Good times. . .

5th company had one side of Smoke Hall, the other thirty-five companies had the other side.

Good times...

While I never had the privilege of living on 8-3 or 8-4, I do know of a few "ordeals" that have happened. My two favorites, the d-bag 2/c who almost didn't survive trick-or-treating there, and the stud whose answer for satisfying his "needs" while on restriction wasn't porn, but having his mid-hound gf from east port (FONA pass and all) park her car in ricketts parking lot, come up the back steps of the 8th wing back shaft in a blue and gold jogging suit (one time with heels, i shit you not) and spend the entire weekend with him (for several consecutive weekends). True love right there...

Not that I would ever condone such unprofessional behavior...:D

You do not drink as a plebe while at Annapolis. If you are 21, you may drink if you are home on leave. Once you are no longer a plebe, you may drink the same as everyone else.
Slight caveat - if I remember correctly, you just have to be in a leave status to consume alcohol as a Plebe. I was from Annapolis, and I drank my first (legal) beer during Thanksgiving leave in DTA (I turned 21 during plebe summer - I got to dedicate Blue & Gold to the brewers of Heineken, woohoo!)

They need to get the O'Club back (aka authorize firsties to use it). My class was full of alcoholics (case in point - our 10 year reunion our gifts were a backpack cooler with 4 on the rocks glasses), and over 800 of us became card carrying members of the O'Club. We didn't waste our time with Forrestals. You'd routinely see members of my class in SDB's during 5th or 6th period during the week because they were going to throw back some brews at the O'Club after class. The O'Club manager even got a plaque made up with our class crest thanking us for our support. Oh yeah, we were drunks. My buddy and I decided to be drunk every night our firstie year - and that lasted until we got our six week grades...

That reminds me of the story about some guy in 7th wing that was on restriction (for underage drinking), and his roommates decided to get him a stripper for his 21st birthday and snuck her up the back shaft to 7-2. She was passable in the blue & gold jogging suit, but her bouncer (with ponytail & beard) wasn't so passable. He and his roommates ended up getting busted, but he's a Marine Cobra pilot & WTI now so I guess it really didn't matter in the end (but provided a good story)!

3 Questions:

1. Do you know how they got busted?
2. Who would turn them in????
3. How could you not just absolutely LAUGH at this situation if you were on that board?

1. My roommate was our company CDO, and the guy was his sponsor brother. He was invited to come up, he did - realized what was going on and left. He hemmed and hawed and called their company CDO and told her to swing by room whatever.

2. My roommate did. To put it into perspective - we were in finals week of second semester firstie year. He hemmed and hawed for a while because it was his sponsor brother, but we were so close to graduation that he decided to turn them in because what if he had been seen leaving the room and then they got busted? Too risky at that point.

3. I would have laughed my ass off (and I did).

Just curious...how far up the chain did this go?
Not sure, but he was adjuticated (was supposed to be 120 days total on restriction - 60 for the underage, plus 60 for the stripper; HOWEVER the President presided over our graduation and as is tradition he pardoned everyone) by the Battalion Commander, so I'd assume it went all the way up to the Dant. Never made it into the Baltimore Sun though!

Now that's a black-N worth bragging about. I bet he's still bitter about the fact that he got turned in...although everyone there is well aware of the risk of playing with fire.

Speaking of the President speaking...I wonder what Midn. McCain is thinking now that he is going to shake President Obama's hand in May.

He and I went through WTI together. It was kinda funny, we were sitting out in front of the Q drinking beers shooting the shit and it came up that we were both Naval Academy grads, then the usual questions ensued. Class year followed by company. When he mentioned his company (after I had already said my class year and company) he followed with "I was the guy that had the stripper in his room." I told him who my roommate was and he said that if he had been in the same situation that close to graduation he would have done the same thing.

Having a gf sneak in on the weekend, while not common, was not unheard of while I was there. They just give you so many damn pairs of blue rims and shorts.
