Interesting cause the last PACFLT N2 was a DISL and he ran the entire N2 directorate. Including signing all the fitreps for the officers under him.

You sure that was a DISL and not an SES? There is a distinct and significant difference.

Ya pretty sure.

He retired as a captain and the N2 of PACFLT and created himself a DISL billet. Literally retired and came back the next day in a shirt and tie in the same job.

no idea how that’s legal.

he moved to USDI though and another captain came back to take the billet

We have a number of openings in Dahlgren, VA for individuals with Navy experience. I am hoping you might have some connections with prior or transitioning Navy individuals that you could reach out to about our open requisitions.

Specifically, we are looking for Tier 1 Trainers at ARTC. There are at least 3 positions. Besides Baseline 7 radar, Baseline 9 and Combat Systems trainers are needed.

With the award of the TEAMS Next contract, we are also looking for a variety of engineers and analysts. I am attaching a couple requisitions but if you go to Parsons’ career page and sort by location you can see the other opportunities.

https://jobs.parsons.com/job/13889717/weapons-system-engineer-with-aegis-bmc4i-experience-secret-clearance-dahlgren-va/

Parsons has tremendous opportunity, and I would be extremely appreciative for any assistance you can provide. Plus, the referral bonus is pretty nice!

Dahlgren has come up a lot in the 10+yrs I've been bumping around the area. Not a terrible place to work if you live in Fredericksburg or across the bridge in MD.

I knew a guy who commuted there from Odenton, MD because his wife worked at Meade, he did it for at least 5 years almost every day. Great guy, loved working with him but I regularly questioned his decision process even after he explained it to me (great wife) and I made fun of him for it.

Ugh, that's a lot of 301 time but common for GS/CSS folks in the eastern DC diaspora who can bounce between various related agencies separated by only a few miles on a map but by hours in suburban MD traffic. Shoot, I picked where i built my house as a middle ground in that landscape to give us career flexibility.

I have my own fun commute to the one place I didn't plan on working at when I bought my house but his commute was far even by my standards, usually 2-3 hours each way, every day.

Dahlgren (the base) has some fun stuff and most of the folks I've worked with there are great but a lot of the facilities, like many Navy bases, could use some really serious updating.

Yikes 4-6hrs in the car is bad even by DC standards. Must've been a great job or one heck of a wife (although doesn't sound like he had a lot of time spend with her...but maybe she was "great").

Yeah, interesting to wander around and see the firing line and old gun barrels rusting in the grass and the airfield where atomic bomb casing shapes were tested. But I always expect to have to sign an asbestos waiver in the buildings over there. Although I'd say Indian Head is the roughest I've seen in the local area and NRL smells the worst.

The problem with Indian Head isn’t that it is in the middle of nowhere, it is on the far, opposite edge of nowhere.

It's pretty amazing to see how quickly you can go from DC/suburbs to some pretty rural areas around the Potomac. Also Indian Head has a nice pool that's usually empty.

I think that if I had to work at Indian Head I’d drive to KVKX and then fly the last 15 miles!
