FY09 STA-21 Soup to selection and beyond MEGA thread

The quarterdeck watch in King Hall will have a roster of who's in what room starting that Saturday. I wouldn't check in any early than that. That said get there a day early, get a hotel room, rest and relax and enjoy Newport.

If you check in on Saturday, your free to do what you want but your liberty will expire at midnight on Sunday.
 
If you check into your room at King Hall early you can walk over to Nimitz hall and use the nice big flat screen on the boost floor. I think its the 3rd floor if they still have it there. I checked in two days before I had to since it was a holiday and the site was never updated with the report information. Hotels cost a decent amount in Newport but on the base you can get a room at this near the gate right before the bridge (forget the name) and its cheapish. Free internet and all that good stuff ;)

Also the food at the galley isn't bad, the cake is to DIE FOR. Best cake I ever had, and thats not joke. Have a slice since you will burn it off when you start NSI :)

I dont know if Colorado is what your heart desires because you lived there, but I have done a lot of research and talking to current and past cadets there. Seems like the ROTC unit there sucks if you are a OC. After talking to people there and who went there I totally crossed it off the list and it was my number 2 choice. I dont know if that helps but just wanted to share what i have learned. I am willing to meet early if someone wants to....any ideas. Like they said here I think Sat morning is the earliest I want to get there.
 
I plan on getting there probably the Saturday before we start because I have 3 kids and a pregnant wife plus trying to move before I get there is going to be hard on the wallet. But definately Saturday we should all go out and have a few drinks because I am sure we will all meet at the barracks.

I am definitely down for that brother....I am sure that we will need those drinks for NSI...see you guys soon...ready to get out of this hell hole

Thanks for the heads up. I talked to K smittay and he said the same thing. However, I don't mind putting up with the b/s to live out there. I agree on Saturday and as the date gets closer we'll pick a time and a place. I hope everyone is taking some leave before class starts.

how much is your command letting you take??
 
Your order will prob be cut for 30 before you report to NSI, I plan on taking the full 30!
 
FY08 Alternates

Does anybody know how to find out how many FY08 alternates ended up getting picked up for that same year?
 
Question about alternates

I am an alternate for Core (FY09) and have sent all of my required info (physical, HIV results, Acceptance, degree plan etc.). Does anyone know from previous years experience if those who were alternates and ended up going were told like a week ahead of time or a month before NSI or Boost? I'm shooting from the hip on this one. Any valid info would be helpful.
 
It could happen at any time. I am sure that when a spot opens up they will notify whoever is next on the list. So it could be a month before or a day before. Some primary selects last year got orders the day before NSI started.
 
Yes, I had some classes from Central Texas and Tidewater Community Colleg and was accepted as a xfer student to ODU.
