That’s a punch in the old tax payer wallet. I wonder if that is about the average in “fielding pains” for a new aircraft?Today's makes at least 7 F-35 crashes I can think of, plus the one that caught fire (no clue if it was written off or rebuilt).
Nope@johnboyA6E : It's not just SOP. Every F-35C landing uses PLM (a.k.a. Magic Carpet) by design. If the airplane is so degraded that PLM doesn't work, diverting, barricading, or a controlled ejection are likely the only options.
