Sim Standby for 28 is rediculus right now... 4-5 weeks to finish CPTs for some people. And its not like they send a few people for each several hr block... they send entire classes.

And what the hell is a doer-bird anyway? At least the FO studs at 4 have a duck toting a martini (provided you make the extra trip to Wings to get the "old" patch). Then again I'm still not sure what the hell that whole gyro/life preserver looking thing on its chest was. Small consolation that there was a gun and pistol belt to match our unarmed T-34s of doom... VT-28 was nutz-o also when it came to standby. There was talk about getting a "100 hour Standby patch" with a couch in the background. At least we had nice leather couches to relax on while on standby.....that, and the "Prop-stop"
Yeah, couches are nice. We had a few of them around our pool table in VT-3. That made standby suck a little less!

Just like it sounds....sitting in the readyroom waiting for someone to cancel.......so the squdron doesnt lose an X. In VT-27 we had a morning standby and an afternoon if i remember correctly. Very boring...but you usually got picked up about half the time, so you couldnt really slack off. What really sucks is whne you have been sittiing there for 4 hours and about ready to go home and five minutes before your time is up...you get picked up! "AH, MAN!" Game face on! Game on! brief!

Hahahahaha, VT-28 standby is quite a thing to watch. I finished systems and metro over 3 weeks ago and I've only been scheduled on sim standby ONCE in 3 weeks (didn't amount to anything). Last week we had 3 (0540, 0542,0544) classes on the 'Not scheduled' list just waiting to do C2001. There were some guys who had to do C2001 "warmup" sims since it'd been more than 2 weeks since they had last done a CPT. The squadron has no problems filling watch bills though; plenty of people to pick from...

Supposedly classes are always bigger in the summer months here because the weather is pretty condusive to flying. That and Whiting always seems to be full.

Word is that 27 has consistently been faster then 28. The most wait ive heard of since ive been here is two weeks.

Summer weather is ****ty for flying in that part of Texas and in Florida. It's more because NROTC and the Academy new commissions. Dumpload of guys get thrown into the system, unlike winter.

Fly, the weather in Summer in Corpus is Great! Its not like the daily thunderstorms in P-cola. There are a few T-storms here and there...but for the most part it is very good flying. I did not get weather cancelled a whole lot in Corpus...unlike here in Meridian.

DOR in CPTs...are you friggin kidding me?? A class of 19 dudes reduced to 10??? that is unheard of! I dont remember anyone who dropped before the plane....it just didnt happen. They must really be harping on the SNA's in CPTs for that to happen....i just dont believe it! CPTs suck, I cant fathom someone dropping like that. I mean...its only a week...then your done...to the plane!

any SNA's about to start...let this be a lesson to you! There are going to be parts of training that just suck!! the good (or bad) thing is that it usually sucks very early on when you are trying to get your feet wet...then it gets so much better it will make you head spin. The early stages are always designed somewhat to put pressure on you to perform and weed out those that are not willing to commit to the whole program....but its just a mind F%CK! Just get through one hurdle at a time and press on...before you know it you will be out in the area by yourself upside down telling yourself "I cant believe they actually pay me to do this!" and wondering how all your college buddies can survive behind a desk all day doing a real job.
