It's 4 weeks but you have 6 tests that you have to have an 94 average at the end of API. Apparently it was 4 weeks of constant studying. The minimum passing score was probably an 80 when you went through but minimum passing score of 94 only allows 3-4 questions wrong on a test. They did it but are just glad they got through it. This is what a lot of guys want to do with their lives and it can be very stressful when there is a possibility that they might not make the cut. :icon_wink

Does this grading scale go for all branches of service (ie., Air Force)?

No. It was only going for '04 Navy pilots for a while. Everyone else had the normal standards (ie 80 is passing).

That's what the hubbie has said! :p I've heard of 1 or perhaps, 2 instructors as well in VT-28! Always nice to see another Hokie in the mix. VT C/O 2002! What was your major? I knew a bunch of guys that graduated in 2002 in the ROTC (or perhaps you did OCS). Can't imagine why you would want to stick around until 2004 up in the 'burg?! :icon_wink I love that place! We're going up for Homecoming too! We play NC State on the 4th of September on ESPN2 -- don't miss it! :icon_zbee Go Hokies! (Couldn't resist)

Congrats on finishing up! Where are you off to next?

Yep, theres 2 VT-28 instructors that i know of that went to tech, one marine, one navy. I was Aerospace Engineering, hence the 5 years to finish.... plus ROTC. I wanted to fly up there on my cross country the other week, but got asked to go to Memphis (yaahh!! :sleep_125 ) instead. Im headed home on leave for 2 weeks tomorrow, and Ill probably drive down there to visit my sister, then headed to ATL on the 3rd to visit family, and hooking up with a fellow Hokie on sunday for the game.

You can pick most of us Tech guys out cause most of us wear VT patches on our flight suit. its a VT with a Hokie bird in a flight suit on it. :icon_smil

Wait....80 is passing per test? Or 80 avg at the end of API?

You need both, sort of. If you make below an 80 on a test you will have to retake it until you make an 80. They use that 80 that you made in your average (even if you ace the test the second time around it still counts as 80). So, technically, you can't have an average under 80%.

When I was there, you could fail 3 times before they attrited you. Most people don't fail anything during API so don't sweat it if you're not there yet.

Theres alot of VT guys down here now

HA! I didn't give it a second though when I saw this. The term "VT" means something different to me these days. I'm an '03 Hokie as well. There are a few guys down here in K-rock as well.

I'd be interested in getting one of those VaTech patches. Where did you get them?

You can PM me if you don't want to steer this thread too far off topic.
