Ah, Station Pilot, that IS the life. As previously mentioned (maybe in this thread or not), my proverbial holy grail of orders would be Station Pilot Key West, at NAS Boca Chica. When not flying, I would have my boat in the water and going snorkling or scuba diving, either that or doing the Duval crawl down to Rick's or Sloppy Joe's....

No one says you have to be close to retirement to get a good station pilot job! The station pilots at Key West are usually helo guys, because they fly H-3s, as well as C-12s. Not really considered a "career-enhancing" billet, though.[xx(]
