Awesome new Marines commercial

Well at least it better than the air force commercials... Everyone who joins will fly an F-22 or F-117! And what they only have like 40 of them combined?

Then there was also the army of one....
 
So whats the deal with San Francisco? I know that they are not military friendly but why and how?

Does it stem from how gay friendly they are and gay unfriendly 99.9% of us are?

Don't make the mistake that all gays are liberal or that servicemen are anti-gay. I'd say that most couldn't care less. While many or most may not want openly gay servicemembers, most are live-and-let live about gays in general. Francisco is just a liberal town, just like Pensacola is a conservative one.

I think that even saying they are anti-military may be overstating it. In the case of this commercial, it's not that they were blatantly discriminating against the Marines, they just didn't look the other way because they were Marines (there's a law that bans firearms on the bridge).

Most of it stems from their mayor, city council, etc. Like when they wanted to ban the Blue Angels from Fleet Week. In the end, everyone threw a fit, and the Blues flew. Fleet Week is huge in SF and always gets a great turn out. The people of SF, though generally very liberal, aren't really anti-military. Just like most military members, while generally conservative, aren't "gay unfriendly."

Those laws do not apply to government personnel. Do you think FBI agents have to take their guns off and mail them across the bridge?


San Francisco is a pretty town and fun to hang out in, but if it were to fall into the earth tomorrow, I wouldn't be too upset.

The laws don't apply to government law enforcement personnel. Marines can't carry guns on planes like federal agents can either. I'm not necessarily supporting the bridge authorities, but the issue is that they didn't bend over backwards to accommodate the Marines, not that they went out of their way to hinder them.

Agreed on SF being a great city to hang out in, wouldn't want to live there though.
