23 May 18 Pilot/NFO Selection Board

Making Recruiting Great Again
I am currently serving as an Infantry officer. I'm an O2. I am doing the interservice transfer process according to the Army. I have a conditional release signed by my commanding general and my OR told me that by doing that I am resigning my commission in the Army and starting over in the Navy by doing OCS. She said she has done this with Army officers before and never had a problem. Either way, my kit has been submitted and I am just waiting on a response to see if I got selected. I talked to my branch manager and he said the Infantry branch is okay with this. I am not sure if what I am doing is the wrong way of doing this now but it seems to have worked so far. Does any of this sound wrong?

You are not eligible to apply. Read the program authorization yourself. Item 5D specifically applies to you... It's as cut and dry as you can get.

Yes, your OR can "submit" an application. Hell, I can "submit" a 42 year old guy with a 30/1/1/1 ASTB score, but it doesn't mean it will make it to the board. Your case is the same.

Your absolutely right. I have never seen that before. I am kinda confused now because my OR has talked to the aviation program manager about my case and that regulation was never brought to our attention. She just said that as along as we get a conditional release that I would be able to apply.

If the PM is new they may not know, I had an Army Officer who wanted to transition to the USN and started to collect documents, asked the PM about the process, then a call went from NRC to my CO to OACR to me that was basically "cease and desist", give them the person the number to the appropriate community manager and move on.

So aside from taking the ASTB again, I have to start from ground zero but work with the aviation program manager to do a service Transfer instead of my OR?

not the aviation PM, but the aviation officer community manager, the OCM will look at year groups to see if there is even space to bring in an IST

Thank you. I'll ask my OR about this.

So NFO is my first choice, having grown up alongside an NFO who I looked up to. Took the test two days ago and received 55 5/6/7. Really hoping to get selected. Anyway, rest of package aside, are my scores pretty average?

Hey I got a question for everyone.. it may have already been addressed so I’m sorry if it already has..

Did everyone get all 10s on their Officer Apprasial? From the other packages I saw I see that they did.. is that normal for y’all?
