Driving with a carpool would be awesome but coming from San Diego to RI means I would have to drive my own car because I doubt much people are coming from SD and idk if my 98 explorer would make it so I will most likely fly

I'm from SD too, but I don't want to sit all those hours driving across the entire country.

I took a train from New York to La once. Takes about 3 days if you don't stop to party or gawk at the mountains. I enjoyed the trip, and it's another good way to get to OCS, Knock on wood.

meh, worst case scenario, we die.
My squadron deployed on the Truman twice between 2010/2014 on the Truman. I swear I know that head...its always a mess.

I don't want it to sound like we were passing the buck (get it? the buck stops here?! Harry S Truman?!?! Okay I'll stop) but that head was almost impossible to keep clean. We asked for the upgrade to replace all of the stuff in there during the yards period, but if I remember right we got told that it was too important and couldn't be taken off line for long enough to get all of the work done. We would be trying to clean in there during happy hour and some guy would get pissed that we kicked him out and he couldn't shower or drop a deuce. It was a freaking nightmare. We even primed and repainted the whole thing and rust and mold kept coming back. It didnt have adequate ventilation to keep it drom going foul. Good times.

What squadron were you in?

Gonna ask on here because my recruiter just called me and told me that she doesn't have any yes or no answer for me. But when she checked my file, it said this applicant needs to request a lateral transfer. To give context, I am currently serving as an Army officer at Ft Riley, KS. I already have a conditional release signed by my commanding general, and Army HRC as well as the Navy is tracking all this. She can't get ahold of the person who wrote that comment on my file but it doesn't make sense because a lateral transfer is within your service, while I am trying to do an interservice transfer to another branch. Any of the recruiters on here know what this means?

If you are a current Army Officer you should be going through the IST process and communicating directly with the Aviation Officer Community Manager, @RUFiO181 and I have dealt with this before to a certain extent.

Are you a current officer? You need to go through an IST (Interservice Transfer). You can easily google/find the Navy instruction and how about going so. You CANNOT work an Officer Recruiter because you are already a commissioned officer.

I ran into a situation last year where I was referred an applicant from the Navy Recruiting Command Admiral himself who was a Navy IRR Ensign (he attended Kings Point and was automatically designated IRR) and wanting to go pilot. In the end, the program authorization states only enlisted/civilians can apply and the PAs will always trump what the Admiral wants to do.

I am currently serving as an Infantry officer. I'm an O2. I am doing the interservice transfer process according to the Army. I have a conditional release signed by my commanding general and my OR told me that by doing that I am resigning my commission in the Army and starting over in the Navy by doing OCS. She said she has done this with Army officers before and never had a problem. Either way, my kit has been submitted and I am just waiting on a response to see if I got selected. I talked to my branch manager and he said the Infantry branch is okay with this. I am not sure if what I am doing is the wrong way of doing this now but it seems to have worked so far. Does any of this sound wrong?
