OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

I’m not 100% sure, but I think I read on Reddit that if you listed a second designator, they won’t review it until your first choice has made a decision. If you’re not selected for your first choice, your application then gets pushed to the next board meeting for your second choice.
Thanks for sharing and congrats with your selection!
I’m gonna have a call my OR next week and make a decision on how to proceed.

I heard rumors that for IP 60+ peeps were selected with 6 ending up a non-select.

I’m assuming the factors leading to my rejection are
- “Conferred degree” on package does not fully reflect my CS graduate degree which was still in progress. (OR told me my BS info was on the package) Also, BS major does not 100% align with designator and GPA submitted is kinda meh.
- Potential foreign ties tagged being a naturalized citizen (But I honestly think it should have been a DNR if that was really the problem)
- Weak motivational statement. I did sell myself but could have made it stronger alignment with the designator.
- Should have communicated more often with my OR before he submitted my package.

Foreign ties doesn't necessarily result in a DNR, I had a person selected who was later not given a final select after further review of his background.

I got the text from my OR last Friday saying I got picked up for CW! No OCS date yet though.

Thing is, at the beginning of this month, my OR said I wasn't accepted, that CW is no longer accepting applicants, and the only community open right now is SWO. My package was submitted for CW in both the regular board and ISEL, so it'd only make sense that he was referring to the ISEL board. Another thing is that my regular board date was September according to him, and not August like this thread. I guess the results from both boards released at the same time. Gonna ask for a bunch of clarification, but I'm still happy that I got in!

You have to remember that if you're ISEL, you essentially bypass the selection board as long as you check all the boxes for ISEL. There's no specific board for ISEL, hence the name "Immediate Selection".

Regardless, CONGRATS!!!! Most people have either been getting February or March for their OCS dates so it might be safe to assume one of those.

I got selected for IP! 08MAR however, I found out by checking the Sharepoint are we going to get official letters saying we are PRO REC and then we have to accept or decline?

Because I have an OCS date am I automatically accepted?
I also was curious about that too. I texted my Chief in-leu of my OR being on vacation, and he hasn't responded. I believe we're 'automatically accepted,' but I'd like to know for certain haha.

(I am a civilian and am wondering what I will have to do)

The fleet processor will email your CO about your selection. Your CO will confirm the OCS dates and your application will then be forwarded for final approval. Once approved, Orders will be issued in 20-30 business days.

My OR sent me paper work to sign to accept which had my OCS date on it. He also sent me a
Pre-Commissioning/Enlistment Information Worksheet which included things like my parents info, banking info, SGLI info, etc.

Okay thanks for the info. My Chief will probably have me do something similar this Monday. Is there an immediate timeline this has to be done by? My OR doesn’t get back until the 27th.

That is a question I don't have an answer to. Sorry. You said you are a civilian, right? Try reaching out to your recruiting station to see if someone else can get the docs over to you. I'm supposed to go into my OR's office sometime this week to swear me in. Then I'll need to complete a PRT within 45 days of shipping out to OCS (sometime in Feb). I'm not exactly sure how soon we'll receive chopped orders before leaving, either. In case you didn't know, the Navy will cover your flight to RI (if you're not driving), but you will need to self-fund your lodging. Be sure to keep receipts to submit with your travel voucher.

Yeah I am currently a Civilian. The Chief I talked to said I have plenty of time to 'celebrate,' but I just want to double-check that I am fine waiting for my OR to return without the risk of something happening that'll negatively impact my selection. I was just initially worried if something didn't get signed within 7~9 days it'd cause issues. Yeah! I think that's what I am going to try and do. (Getting a plane ticket.)
