OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

I know that results release isn't affected by the government shutdown. However, our recruiters and basically anyone outside NRC is in the dark. I understand the whole 'hurry up and wait' 'it's just big Navy' and so on. We currently waiting almost the longest for results in the past 5 years for any IWC board.

Is there anyway to confirm that things are proceeding 'normally'?

Can someone with SharePoint access check?

My husband has access and I'm waiting to hear back if he sees anything.

Right, I'm fully aware (and understanding) of the hurry up and wait philosophy but some answers soon would be super cool too lol I think we've put in our "wait" time 😅

I can’t check sharepoint but I can say that OPNAVINST 1420.1B in the OCS section states “Application processing and review will normally take 8 to 10 weeks”

Granted the versions I am finding are old, but to my knowledge that means the guidance within stands until the instruction is cancelled or superseded by newer/updated guidance.

All of that to say this is the longest or one of the longest in recent history but it’s still within the laid out normal timeline.

Not to knock the "hurry up and wait" truism of military life too hard, but my anecdotal experience was that it was a lot easier to deal with when I had guaranteed E-6 pay and BAH rolling in, plus matching TSP contributions, Tricare, job security, etc.

Something something, "grass is greener" n'all – but I'd still gladly die on the philosophical hill that waiting within the military is a different kind of aggravating from waiting to get into the military...

I definitely remember sitting down doing nothing before orders came out. Not to mention doing dumb shit that does not make any logical sense just to pass time or the higher-ups did not want us to stay idle.

I waited years to get my green card, another 5 years to get naturalized and here I am trying to join an organization that I’ve essentially experienced in another country. Just with some inner voice telling me that I want to serve my new country. :-)

As John Constantine told Lucifer from the movie - “You've waited twenty years for me, Lu. What's another twenty seconds?”
I just try to sit down and wait based on what my life experiences have taught me throughout the past 15-18 years. Damn I now sound like an old man.🤮

Maybe I really am dumb or an r-tard as my vet-bros playfully call me😂🤣

There is something different about being stuck in the waiting phase that no amount of mental preparation can prepare you for.

For me this applies all over the place in life - it’s one thing to KNOW what to expect (waiting with no info, deployment end/return dates, PCS timelines) and another when you are in it. It’s nice to see we are mostly all in the same place mentally with this

The waiting wouldn't be as bad if I wasn't being asked "Have you heard anything yet?" every week by friends and family. I should just hit them with a "You'll know when I know."
Oh 100%. I’m getting that from the people who did letters of recommendation and interview appraisals too. I actually have started replying with as soon as I know I will let you know! Some get the hint, others… not so much 😐

Yeah I’m in a similar situation. My wife is always asking me any results yet? And I just keep on telling her not even my recruiter knows and everyone’s in the dark.
She keeps on saying she’s not a big fan of surprises. But guess what, her dumb hubby is trying to join an organization full of it.😂🤣

I try to stay calm, but the wait is indeed something tho. I am just going through my 100000001st brainfuckery sessions in my tiny little head right now.😂

It was probably my mistake for making the assumption that things will go smoothly, but I remember telling people during a graduation party that I might get results in like August or September. This was before the June 23 board got flipped to include only fleet applicants. Now whenever my coworkers ask about the Navy I just give them that sad look and go "nothing yet".

I’m going to apologize for being a buzzkill earlier, there’s no sense in being so rigid. I think my preferred duty station is somewhere near the action, possibly the Balkans or South America? Although this waiting thing sucks, it’s definitely given me some added humility, which upon reflection, was very much needed.
Having taught Latin American studies the last couple years, I would love South America.
