My recruiter did not explain the process to me for after the packet is sent in.
So as I understand it the board is meeting now. What is this prorec/finsel/etc?
Would appreciate any insight and have been mostly in the dark like the other guy above mentioned.

ProRec (professional recommendation) means you were selected. FinSel (final selection) means you accepted.

Unless you have SharePoint access, we’re basically sitting in the dark until someone gives us an update.

Once results are released, your OR will be able to provide stats on the designators. For example, from the January ’25 board (per my OR):

• 37 IP and 2 IP BDCP were selected; 18 were not selected.
• 78 CW and 8 CW BDCP were selected; 28 were not selected.

These numbers are fun to look at, but take them with a grain of salt because no one really knows how many spots are trying to be filled.

I kept looking at it as a way to prepare for being in the navy and a leader, how do I handle shitty situations with little guidance and take care of the things I need to in order to get the outcomes needed.

Yeah I think that is a great attitude.
In my corporate job it’s also the same — handle shitty situations with little guidance and stay on top of things. + dealing with a-holes to work together and get things done. Prepare and stay in 2 hour meetings where people talk about crap and nothing gets done. etc etc

Well, yes—that’s true. What I meant is that no one knows how many spots are available before a board convenes. The numbers can shift from board to board. For example, there might be 25 spots for a certain designator in one cycle, but only 4 in the next. Funding, the Navy’s needs, and other factors are variables we can’t predict or see in real time.

Rule of thumb is most "BS" (Bachelor of Science) degrees are STEM.

That is super interesting to know! I have of Bachelors of Science Bus Admin and have never heard it be considered a STEM degree. Have you seen Bus Admin included in this grouping?

Just wondering if anyone else is hearing similar info before I begin exploring other options. I heard from my OR that, as of today, for FY26, the only designators being selected are MCWO, CWE, and OCEANO. I have a board application in for INTEL and was told that was not being selected for 2026 anymore.

I haven’t heard anything but that would be a big bummer if true
