I don’t believe so? It was definitely on there when I took it a few months ago.did they remove the terrain identification from the ASTB? i was not given it on my test, curious if that has happened to anyone else
A bit of a late April Fools jokedid they remove the terrain identification from the ASTB? i was not given it on my test, curious if that has happened to anyone else
No i am being dead serious, when i asked the test proctor he said they removed itA bit of a late April Fools joke![]()
Oh? Dang, if that is true I wish it was when I took it. That section of the test was just not fun. Here's this visually indistinctive picture, find the direction you are goingNo i am being dead serious, when i asked the test proctor he said they removed it
Nice job, it really must be gone then. First time I took the ASTB I didn't know it was part of the test.Just took the test again went from 46 5,6,6 to
53 6,7,7. Going to test my luck on the boards and build a packet. I had no terrain ID on my test.
Those numbers are immediate selection along with your 3.0+ GPAI took my first attempt on the ASTB this morning and there was no terrain identification on it. I was very confused and thought the test malfunctioned or something.
I got a 51 7, 9, 8. In NROTC. Is this competitive enough for pilot? 3.33 Teir 2 GPA.
He is NROTC, they have a bit different criteria for pilot selection, very good scores though. Those numbers are immediate selection along with your 3.0+ GPA
It seems like there's been a huge delay for everybody. I submitted my ISEL SNA packet mid December 2025, and I just heard back late March that they've approved my ISEL & that I just need to wait to be assigned to an OCS class--which my recruiter mentioned was weird, as they usually have a OCS date when they approve a packet.I submitted my package February 24th for SNA ISEL and have been told as of 10 minutes ago that my application still hasn’t been accepted
That's very interesting, and I am totally not jealous about there being no terrain ID section. But yeah, look to see if you can buy your own or borrow a joystick from a friend to practice the PBM sections of the test. Those aren't bad test scores. I went from, if I remember correctly, a 58 5/6/4 to a 60 7/9/7 after practicing the PBMs a little more. The best way I found to ensure that I was going into each PBM with high confidence was just reading the tutorial thoroughly, even though I had done it once before, and just taking a deep breath and calming any nerves before starting the measured test. It really helps and, at least in my case, helped me focus directly on what I was doing.Took my first attempt at the ASTB last week and scored a 50 5/6/6, there was also no terrain ID on my test. Gonna start studying for a retake, thank you all who have posted their study strategies it helped a lot!
I primarily used the ASTB prep, as well as the OAR study guide sent over by my recruiter. I also have a copy of the Barron's book but some of the information is either out dated or not very representive of what is actually on the test. The Popeye and Cram ANIT flashcards were also invaluable.
Overall, Math was pretty on par difficulty wise as I was expecting- I had a lot of factoring, probability, and simple and compound interest questions. Reading was somehow more boring on the actual test than any practice tests I studied with. Mechanical comprehension was far easier than anticipated. PBM was definitely harder than I thought it'd be, but that's because I had basically no experience with a joystick and the inversion threw me off. Definitely planning on getting something to practice with. The UAV section was almost identical to how it was shown in the ASTB prep app.
Again, thank you all who have shared their strategies!
