HR 1022- It's BAAAACK!! ... do the Dems want your guns ?? Assault or otherwise??

Flash my degree is in political science and I know what it takes to go for cloture. But today in the senate you don't even worry about 51 votes because the filibuster is always implied. The idea is much like our Nuclear deterrent strategy. We don't use it but the threat being there is enough...

This is going to pass the House I am betting just because the Majority Party can push anything they want. Pelosi is a gun grabber from San Fran and this is probably going to be a big issue for her. It will get out of committee because Pelosi being the Majority leader owns the committees. The...

    HQMC Restricts Non-Issued Armor Use

A 155mm hit I am skeptical. But I did see the Future Weapons he is talking about (even though I hate the narrator) and I was impressed by vest. They showed a test where the vest survived a grenade blast at point blank. I doubt the wearer would have survived the blast however.

Agreed. Texas doesn't have to many problems with crime. And it has only been dropping since we enacted our CCW permits. The places with the most crime are California, DC, and Chicago. ALL 3 have restrictive gun laws.

No I meant the USP. I ask because I have never heard of a full size not shooting well. Its such a big weapon with a heavy slide that its felt recoil is less than you might expect from a .45 ACP, and they are accurate as hell. Ive taken .45 ACP shots at 50 yards and hit a human size target 50%...

I'm as liberal (not the contemporary definition) as they come, but I still like the class, though I cant argue with states like VT (of all places) and AK that don't have any licensing process at all, they just let you carry. Texas has a 13 hour class that is required. If I had to get rid of...

Tennessee votes to repeal ban on handguns in public buildings

Ive heard that FL has a very easy CCW permit process... what makes it so difficult? And I guess I jumped the gun on the state of WA. I was basing it more on their constitution. There is a troubling cause that seems to restrict militias.

http://www.theothersideofkim.com/index.php/tos/index1/C6/ The first post on this page mentions that the person was acquitted. However its not uncommon for people to be prosecuted when it is a clear cut case of self defense. Kim's Dept of Righteous shootings has a pretty good list of people...

I highly doubt it. VA is a very gun friendly state. It would be like Texas or Florida getting rid of guns. It just isn't going to happen.

Tennessee votes to repeal ban on handguns in public buildings

It HEAVILY depends on the state. Southern and Western states have a good record of acquitting people who use force in self defense. NE states CA, OR, and WA have less then stellar records.

I dont know why people still have to ask about this weapon. The P99 is a great weapon that got a bad wrap from the beginning, but the people who dont like it can never come up with a good reason as to why they dont like it. Regarding the rail, I dont own one (I have fired them multiple times...

    Big Dilemma

I was talking to my XO recently about getting PRK. We talked about the 'Blind Pilot Program' that allows people with up to 20/40 vision to fly, but only when the Navy needs some pilots. That option is not always there. He said he couldn't recommend directly that I get PRK done, but he put it...

    Big Dilemma

IMHO you should follow the advice of the other board members, but one option that does not appear to be offered here is a cross-commission. Meaning that you go through the Army ROTC but commission as an Ensign in the Navy. I dont know much about this process other than it exists. I know at...

Is it LASIK now and which one? Is PRK a safer bet?

I have talked to an ophthalmologist who is a good family friend and he says unequivocally that PRK is the way to go. Also even though the Navy is looking into LASIK I have not seen anything that makes me think its a sure thing. As far as I know LASIK is still disqualifying for flight.

Is the Greencard enough for a NROTC scholarship?

I wont say its guaranteed... Im just relaying whats on the web site. You should probably talk to the US Immigration office about the process. Brett makes a good point regarding BDCP. The Marine Corps has a program called PLC (Platoon Leaders Course) that is similar to BDCP

Is the Greencard enough for a NROTC scholarship?

Absolutely. The USCIS website mentioned that military service makes it much easier to get citizenship. If you finish your degree and enlist in the Marine Corps, once you receive your citizenship you could go to OCS.

ROTC, clear it up for me will ya

A lot of it depends on the size of the unit. Large units like Texas will vary a great deal from small units like mine in New Mexico. A big class for us is 10 graduates.

Is the Greencard enough for a NROTC scholarship?

Immigration is made much easier if you have served in the military, enlisted of course, however if you look at the pathway to naturalization you have to show a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States; residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing...
