While in the API pool, it's not that big of a deal because API slots are based on Primary slots (for the Marines at least). If you're in the Primary pool, I would imagine that it's a bit more difficult.

The swim tank is at Ramer Hall. Yes, they have hours for open swim; however, you'll generally be too busy with training to go to them. Last I remember, open swim was M/W/F: 0600-0730 and M-F 1100-1300.

Back when I was doing PTAD there where already people on our board slated for PLC in 2009 and 2010, so I don't think that it's going away. PLC is the largest source of commissioning for the Marine Corps if I'm not mistaken. Either way, contact your OSO for the most recent information.
