F-35C Unable to Get Aboard Ship, really?

I don't know all the details, as I don't have much (any) hands on experience with it, but didn't the F-4 fit the bill nicely for the services?

    Direct Commision Aviator

The Army Reserve side of the house does fly some fixed wing aircraft, but the slots are very limited/competitive. Most people work their way there after flying rotary wing, at least this is what my research showed. YMMV.

    Direct Commision Aviator

Jones, I understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately, you are in the same boat as a lot of people who are looking to fly for one of the branches of the military. The rules are very clearly defined, and are in place for everyone. The direct commission programs are usually in place for...

    Active Duty Army to OCS

Army to Navy here. I made the transition a little over a year ago. As you already have been told, step zero is getting the ball rolling on your conditional release. Without that piece of paper, you can't really do much. I don't know about applying for the MSC, but NavyOffRec covered that...

    army pilot to navy pilot

FWIW, I've known a few pilots who have gone from Army to Coast Guard, though I imagine the CG is in the same 'boat' as the rest of the branches with their pilots, and you may have a tough time transferring. It's another option you might be willing to consider.

    Navy Weather Woes

The ASAPs have been quite useful for me, personally. It gives me something to read while I'm in the stall (Our VT hangs them in the stalls and over the urinals for good reading). Sometimes, I actually learn something.

    Fastest Pipeline to Afghanistan?

I remember when I was 19 and wanted nothing more to get orders to Iraq. Well, if you want it bad enough, sometimes you get what you wish for. 15 months worth of deployment later, I wanted to look back and kick 19 year old me's ass. The moral of the story is this, don't be in such a hurry to...

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't too terribly long. By internet forum standards however, that was like reading the unabridged version of The Count of Monte Cristo. I was accepted just over a year ago with a 3.0 in Technology Management. Don't expect to get in right now with that GPA. Work hard, get better grades. I also had decent ASTB scores. I think I was 7/7/7 with a 60 OAR. Something like that. If you f*ck up flight school, then you can possibly...

    Automobile to Newport?

Forget leaving base until you're in your Candi-O phase (week 9). It just probably isn't going to happen. If your class is a bunch of turds, you might not even get liberty then. It's totally dependent on your class and class team. Also, flying commercially with all of your 'crap' from OCS is...

    Army WOFT

Speak to an enlisted recruiter, they are going to be your first step in the Army for getting in to the WOFT program. You'll likely be required to take the ASVAB and then take the AFAST. I've taken both the Army's 1A physical and the Navy's flight physical. Both were pretty similar, though I...

    Life at OCS Questions

Answers: 1. You will move rooms many times at OCS. I believe the magic number is four times. Once after indoc week, once again after RLP and then after week six, when the senior class becomes candidate officers, and then finally you will move in to your Candi-O room. That's a grand total...

Yes I took certified copies, or copies that were notarized (witnessed original copy) and that worked to get my spouse enrolled in DEERS. If your wife is already on health insurance, and doesn't need to be enrolled in DEERS, then you can wait and enroll her once you get to Pensacola...

From the East side of pace, it takes about 35 minutes to get to NASP. From the West side, near the HWY 90 bridge, it'll take you about the same amount of time, since it'll take you a little longer to get to the interstate. Knee Pain advice?

There are only a few people on this board who are qualified to give any kind of medical advice. The BEST thing you can do you for yourself long term is to go see a doctor. If they tell you everything is okay, then you won't have to reschedule OCS. If you're told to do physical therapy, or...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I was in the reserves on the Army side of the house, you weren't required to do your 'drills' on the weekend.
