    Which watch?

My winging present to myself watch. Its certainly a possibility that a Rolex may appear on my wrist in a year or two. I'd love to get an X-33 but as yet I haven't been able to find enough non cheapskate P-3 drivers to make it happen. Too many damn wives and kids sucking up disposable...

How did you get involved in aviation?

Dad is a retired P-3/airline pilot and mother was a nurse in the Air National Guard. Decided at an early age after spending lots of time in airports, on planes, and watching Top Gun that it seemed like a pretty sweet thing to do. Also decided that I was going to fly something cool like jets in...

A Horror Story in 2 Acts

Having lived in Pcola and Corpus and now Jax, my personal opinion is Jax drivers are the worst. I have seen more broad daylight people running into the back of one another for no apparent reason other than inattention accidents in 3 months here than anywhere. One day I saw three in one day on...

    Current API Gear Issue Situation

I'd have been happy turn in my helmet for someone else to use after primary rather than move it twice and store it. The Navy supply system in its infinite wisdom decided however that it would be better for it to sit unused in my closet for the last 9 months and remain there for probably another...

    Rectifying a mistake

Not exactly the same situation but I did get accepted to Annapolis and offered a NROTC scholarship. Turned them both down for similar reasons. When I applied for OCS I talked about it in my essay, can't say it helped me but it couldn't have hurt me too much either.

First flight of the P-8A Poseidon and all things related to transition

I seem to recall when they brought the trailer down to Corpus being told that there will be contract maintenace for the P-8, meaning civilians as it is in the training commands, so no enlisted maintainers.

    Question about OCS App.

Had the exact same thing and know a few other guys who had them as well so its obviously not a deal breaker. I think I included a separate letter explaining it with my application. As others said, don't try to hide it or it becomes a big deal.

Best places to wear a uniform...

Definitely, flying home the other day at least 6 Army guys in uniform on my flight got bumped up to first class. Almost made me wish I'd brought some khakis. While I'm thinking of it, I'll also put in praise for the USO at the Dallas airport. Spent about 6 hours there in the course of my holiday...

    Just selected, got questions

I just finished up from -31 a few weeks ago so if anyone's got questions fire away. When I checked in -35 was the gouge better place to be. I think somewhat due to the -31 CO at the time being less than stellar. That's changed and the current skipper is excellent. I would have no reservations...

    Solo - Cutting Tie/Belt Question

    Super hot deal through AAFES

Did you try to get them to apply the discount? I called to see if they'd give it to me on a large order I'd placed but not received yet. Kneeboards For New PCL's

Didn't realize I'd start a debate by asking for kneeboard recommendations but it worked out well because you guys gave this lowly Fam student some things to ponder as far as cockpit organization. Ask and you shall receive. You might not be able to tell from the picture but it is too long to...

So many changes in just the last few weeks. Things I've heard about just since I got out a little over a month ago. -Taps to reveille being enforced, no idea how one would finish RLP without a few all nighters -The terms "beaten" and "killed" to describe RPT sessions, made unacceptable -The...

    Shoes to shine ??

My take on sneakers. Bring one pair. You'll use them exclusively the first few days. Before the end of week one you'll get issued another pair. Civilian pilot needing a little advice

Its possible at 26 but you're getting very near impossible as you must be commissioned by 27. That means application, wait for OCS, and 3 months of OCS before your 27th birthday. Tough situation considering it took 3 months for my application from start to final approval and I was given a 7...
