    Back to the moon?

magnetic accelerator? The attractive part of that is that you get a lot of reusable bang out of the accelerator, unlike the current system, where you have to dump boosters. Another up side is that the more boost you get from the accelerator, the less fuel you need, which lessens the weight, etc...

    Running Shoes

If you're on a budget, I highly recommend eastbay.com(or maybe eastboy.com...whatever). You can pick up a nice pair of running shoes for 40-50 bucks. It's not that the shoes are bad, they just sell older styles. Unless you care about being in style while running, it's really good.

    Fighter Pilot song

If anybody's interested in buying the CD, you can email tinygiant@earthlink.net(A Hog driver apparently) for contact info...he also told me about a 7 CD compilation of air power demos film he's compiled over the years.

    Naval Aviator vision requirements

ROTC, no guarantee. On the other hand, easier to get picked theoretically since you get the spots first along with the Academy. Next, the "guarantee" is BDCP or OCS. Either way, you're trying to get into what needs the ROTC people DIDN'T fill. Obviously, when they're cutting back, there won't...

When are the S-3's going away?

what about everything else the S-3s do? So weird that the Super Bug is a flying gas truck too. How versatile.

    NROTC Midshipmen Past or Present

Hey zak how ya been? I'll back up what he says about Cornell's unit. We're really small but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We also don't do the usual grunt crap a lot of units do(at the Citadel they make money doing their weekly parades, some schools do parking during sports events...

    Fighter comparisons

You do realize half the info on Russian birds is sketchy at best, and often made up of outright lies. I remember seeing something about a MiG 1.44 equipped with a plasma cloud jammer to defeat the F-22s AMRAAMs. The other half is very vague, often claiming their planes will outperform US...

    Aerospace Engineering degree

The following info is entirely based on observations/secondhand info. From what I hear: Submarine school, you NEED to have an engineering or at least science kinda degree. Surface, nothing special needed unless you wanna go to nuke reactor school, then same as submarine. Aviation, you can get...

    JSF

I really, really doubt JSF will be canceled. Pushed back, maybe. Canceled, not likely. There's WAY too much riding on that bird. THREE services want and need it. It's also already out flying in test situations. But if it DID get canceled, you gotta realize that leaves the Navy with nothing but...

Did I lie on my PLC contract?

If it's significant, NAMI will whammy you. Otherwise, it's insignificant so don't worry is what I say. They get two cracks at you: at MEPS and at API right? It would take some major triple A bonering to miss a serious problem BOTH times.

    Danish citizen - U.S marine?

Good point. But INS still sucks. Count on at least a few months after you send the application(btw mucho respect for Bush after that one-finally a President who realizes someone who's willing to put their ass on the line for what isn't technically "their country" is just as deserving of...

    Danish citizen - U.S marine?

Hey, having been/still kinda in a similar situation I'll emphasize the citizenship. Unless either one of your parents is a US citizen, it'll be a bit tougher than it should be. Lots of sitting and waiting for stuff to get done by federal agencies...which take forever. Just remember: 1)Unless one...

    Workout rutine

Ah yeah good point. I dunno what's done at OCS, but I'm guessing when the DI wants to "mash" you you're gonna be doing crunches-nothing holding your feet. For ROTC PFT, they WILL hold your feet and yes, it does feel a bit different from crunches. For me, first time I did em, my quads burned out...

    Workout rutine

Never more than ONE THIRTY!? Good Jebus man. I'm gonna take a swag here and guess pushups are not your thing right? If you're going Navy, remember all you're gonna need are pushups, situps, run. Pushups...just do them. Situps...same. Running...more of the same. 3 sets to exhaustion of pushups...

    MOTIVATING F/A-18 VIDEO!!!!!!

It's only funny as hell when you're not in the damn bird. This summer took a trip to Europe, flew Lufthansa...who ever said Germans were hot pilots? Airbuses are scary man. The highpitched shrieking on takeoff and landing doesn't help. Then we landed with the right main gear hitting first, then...

When Will They Stop Training People On The F-14?

Assumptions? I'm gonna quote my Gunny on this: First impressions count for a lot...my first impression of you is ****! My guess is collegeguy and wintersibs had a baby...this is it. Bad grammar, the occasional weird logic and the cockiness of collegeguy.

    Lt. Col. Allen West

I think the real challenge at this point probably would be FINDING an active duty SEAL. But yeah I'd say he's at the rather extreme end of the screw treaties and PC perspective.

phrog, I'm not saying my hypotheticals should be accepted as gospel. Two hundred? One? What I'm...

Is there something wrong w/ Army avation?

...why would it cost money for Navy/USMC? They'll pay your training also, as well as college. And you get a friggin stipend. But more importantly...look at the gold wings on the top left...those are NAVAL aviator wings. USN/USMC training only here.

calling all Aggies, past and present

chad, this is a page back, but you actually should learn to watch your mouth. Even if you ARE winged, harassment is against Navy policy. So is conduct unbecoming. No not the shootdown of the enemy MiG, the identity of Colonel Tomb. Supposedly it was just a local group commander who according to Duke's account was a great pilot, but supposedly the pilot was not an ace or anything.

  46. V

    Hornet Engagements

Yeah that's what I meant by FAC(lowslow's version). And I thought it's been decided Colonel Toon/Tomb was a myth? Not to say Cunningham's achievement was any less, but the legendary NV ace story was supposedly entirely fictional.
  47. V

    why are you an SNA?

hey zak wassup? Anyway, friggin jets man. I can't wait to start learning to trap on a carrier. But helos doesn't sound so bad...the Seahawks are getting pretty damn deadly.

    NFOs and the JSF

Yeah I've heard from a Prowler NFO that you need the NFO to tell whether or not the automated EW system is making sense...like if it picks up an SA-6 radar 250mi from the coast just after you take off...something's obviously wrong. I've also heard that radars are just so similar that telling...
