Any suggestions on increasing speed in freestyle? I keep flapping my arms, softly kicking and looking straight down to the floor, but I am super incredibly slow through the water. Should I be more forceful exerting my arms?

Being calm and relax makes a tremendous difference. I started actively learning how to swim a couple of weeks ago, and I kept exerting a lot of energy then I need to. If you buy goggles, it'll help you a lot with being relaxed in the water, because you'll see how well you actually can float than...

You won't officially know if theres a board until results starts coming out. Some member's OR will say there's a board, others will say they still haven't heard a thing, and then everyone will start stabbing each other's information leading to new AW members unsure of whos right or wrong still...

You're still going to have to drive straight back to FL, lol. The only con I see to flying is having to grab a taxi to a hotel from the airport, and you won't have an additional "locker", but that's relative to how much stuff you'll be bringing.

I believe in the Marine officer program, you aren't guaranteed a flight contract(maybe some), and you'll receive your MOS at the end of the basic school after OCS. Which means, you can go in with high hopes of being a pilot, but the Corps makes you an infantry officer instead.

Thanks everyone for information! This is great to know for a Naval career. I couldn't find the info myself, what kept coming up was ramp marshal hand signals, or the Navy Yard Shooter, :(.

So, I know Catapult Officers are Naval Aviators, but how does a Pilot/NFO transition into this position? Is it a temporary assignment for an entire cruise, and then they return to their former operation after? Or is it for those who reached the end of their flying career?

Well, after you submit your application (scores, LoR, background stuff), the board meets when there are enough applicants in the pool or around every 90 days. Your OR should get the results a generally a week later. Then the FS letter can come in from anywhere from two weeks to a couple of months.

The scariest of people are often the short ones.

It means the Navy is going to give you the pilot slot, pending background investigation and medical stuff, then you receive your Final Select which officially confirms that you will get that pilot slot along with your OCS date.

Yep, your report date is in your FS. But your OR can also let you know your date too, if they get the information before the FS is signed, but that can always change.

Is bringing personal laptops useful to OCS when you are allowed to use them, or it doesn't really matter aka leave it at home?

You officially joined and are contracted into the Navy when you receive your commission at Graduation at OCS. Before that, you can drop on request, or decide to not even go to OCS. 2) Typically 2 months, but it can vary on other factors.

Just got off the phone with my recruiter, he says all I need to do is wait for the FS letter, and most likely I wont have a background check. He did say I have to do a physical readiness test once I get the letter.

What did you guys do with your recruiter right after being Pro-Rec? I already finished my NASIS and submitted my finger prints before my application was sent off to the board. Did we have to send an acceptance letter or anything?

Because my civilian career failed right off the start. I don't mind giving X amount of years of my life to work in an industry I always dreamed of.
