We did not do that night time water survival with the flashing helmets. :( Not even sure if it's still part of the curriculum. Then again, they were changing stuff when I was finishing up.
Unless your NUPOC, you're out of luck. You aren't considered active until you check into OCS and won't even get your ID until a couple of weeks in. You aren't eligible to be added into her DEERs unless you tie the knot. Just sign up for a trial pass for a local gym. :D
Mitrokhin here is going to be a future field agent with an assignment in Russia. It probably wouldn't have happen if he had let his failure consumed him leading to him working as a cashier at Barnes and Nobles. Raise some hell Mr. H!
Yes to both questions. There is your coffin locker where you can put just about anything in there and it won't get inspected. I highly recommend getting good quality soft towels. The ones they issue are like sand paper, and the ones they sell at the NEX are brittle that can 'destroy' your...
You'll be fine for the mile swim then. The initial/civilian swim instructors are awesome, but the advanced remedial swim instructors are probably ranked 4/10. They'll tell you "do it this way", majority of the time it doesnt work, but you'll find your groove.
For now, just focused on OCS. IFS...
This was for API.
#1) I didn't really know how to "swim" until a few months out before OCS. (See earlier posts). So the treading, breast stroke, and side stroke got me the first time.
#2) I got a second set of swim hold because I cramped up halfway through my mile swim. Heard a pop, and felt...
After 4 weeks of swim hold, I have became very proficient at swimming, in a classroom, in accordance with Naval Aviation Fundamentals, NAVAVSCOLSCOM-SG-200. I also hate it now too.
I failed my PIT run by 3 seconds. Apparently, you still had to run the chip trail even if it's in a middle of a thunderstorm... Still got a ass chewing. But I kept my head up.
One pink sheet isn't so bad. It's not the end of the world. Like utswimmer said, the entire API program counts for half...
I used a 3 in one body shampoo wash, just to save minutes in the morning because we often have a short time frame for hygiene. How long you're gonna ask? Sometimes 10-15 minutes. Sometimes 30, and 45. But you have to share a shower with another person, get your room inspection ready, etc.
I did, but looking back it wasn't really worth it as it took up space. The staff will understand that your shoes will be used, so just clean them up the best you can with a spare toothbrush.
I passed out on my chair with my hatch door open, right before CandiO phase. My chief caught people with their doors closed and napping, so he proceeded to RPT them. I dodged the bullet because he told everyone that had their doors open to go back to their rooms.
It depends on your class team and who is conducting the RPT session.
1. For a session, it can be around 10-20, but if they are nice. But you will lose count because you simply are not "fast enough."
2. For a day, it can be as low just morning PT. And as many as how often your class f's up.
If...
Interesting situation. You might be able to get a medical chit for it, but they probably won't care because its cosmetic and not hazardous to your health.
Just maintain a comfortable level of fitness, enough to pass the PFA with a score of good, which you well achieved. You don't want to show up and get injured from stress fractures, then get rolled 3-weeks in H-class.
Most of the stuff is straight up memorizing the power points. It's like chugging water from a fire hose. NAV and NOS is pretty straight forward when it comes to graphing. You essentially get two more chances to redeem yourself before you get rolled to the next class.
I didn't studied as hard as...
To be selected? Grades, scores, leadership experience, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. Also, timing plays a key role. You might be part of a board that doesnt need a lot of aviators, so the higher scores the better.
Just because you are PQ at MEPs doesn't mean NAMI will guarantee to PQ you. Be prepared to ask yourself whether you want to be either a naval officer or a naval aviator. There were quite a few people who were medically disqualified from being a pilot, and some from aviation completely, weeks...
Bring your knee braces and get a special chit from the medical clinic to use them. But seriously, bring a good quality white towel that won't disintegrate in wash. The ones they issue you are like sand paper.
You'll be stuck in Newport only if haven't received your orders/haven't been cleared medically/awaiting a new designator.
You can report to Pensacola any time during OHARP as long as you let your NRDknow ahead of time. You won't receive BAH during OHARPing, and your OHARP location will depend...
There's plenty of stuff in Nimitz Hall that you can use to clean your hatch with and you will have access to the NEX at least once. I did purchase extra sets of PT gear at the uniform shop and brought another pair of running from home for RLP, but looking back it was probably unnecessary. The...
Thank you @Bronco! OCS was a blast, I enjoyed pretty everything after week 1. PT was the bane of my existence for the first few weeks, until I started pushing myself beyond all measure. Our class was extremely fortunate, in terms of class team and weather. Get through week 1, and get excited for...
A few people there had an electric razor. The only shaving utensils I remember they said were contraband was a safety razor and straight razor. Boy did I miss shaving with my safety razor for the past 12 weeks...
At least you can grow a long luscious mane. With my genes, I am lucky to grow an even mustache. Then again, that's one less thing to sorrow about once I am officially in the Navy. :)
Then what will I do with my tooth brush?
I was a bit confused because I've kept reading that the swims were in full gear, but wasn't sure if that including vests or not.
