I agree with all of this, but just because you approach the helo from the side does not mean you cannot get hurt. The rotor arc can "dip" in all directions. Yes it moves most at the 12 o'clock, but 3 and 9 get their fair share of dip love as well.

That's probably because TD was still in use by the LAMPS Mk I RAG (HSL-31) when HSL-41 established. TH is/was HSL-37. TG was HSL-35. TF was HSL-33.

You are correct, while he may be paid E-5 pay, he is NOT a Sergeant. His status is Cadet and should wear the appropriate insignia. Of course I had a devil of a time keeping track of his exact status as I read his blog.

We used it in HSL (Mk I) West as well. As a rescue swimmer, we didn't jump from the aircraft until we got our three taps on the shoulder.

It is not number of aircraft that are important to the average flyer, it is the routes and number of flights on those routes. For example: UAL flies LAX - JFK 3x per day. Delta flies LAX - JFK 4x per day (these are not actual numbers). Would the merged airline fly LAX - JFK 7x per day? My guess...

I had thought of that, but that line of thinking connotates that he will do his minimum military time and get out. I didn't think that was the case. Now if you fly in the military until you can't fly anymore, your business degree will be a little bit stale when you get out and are ready to use it.

He doesn't mean compensate as in pay him back, he means compensate as in letting him miss AFROTC instruction while he is away. Here is another angle to think about: if flying is your dream, why is the business degree so important?

The answer to the question was not what AEW there is close to the carrier, we all know that is E-2 (nobody said the helo would protect the carrier). The question was what AEW is available AWAY from the carrier. One of the answers was an AEGIS cruiser, and they may have a LAMPS III bird embarked...
