Those are some of the most badass F-16s ever.

    JSF-- your thoughts

I always thought the Intruder was a sexy aircraft. There's just something about a plane that can carry a lot of bombs.

    Am I Too Far Gone?

Thank you very much, Ed. My only question is, can you switch to active duty if you are commissioned as a reserve officer? The reason i ask, is because I'm planning on going full career military if I can, and I'm not sure I can do that in the reserves.

5 things you love about Naval Aviation

Thanks for the lesson. I had a feeling it was something along those lines, but my guess on what it actually was was way off.

    Hurray! It Didn't Disintergrate!

Speaking as a kid who, from the first moment I learned what an astronaut was, wanted to be one, the space program is in big trouble. First of all, I don't think anyone would disagree that we need to fund them better. Second, whatever happened to the cool, ball-to-the-wall flying. The moon...

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the "blackwater navy"?

    Elective Surgery ie Vasectomy!

I'm sorry if I sound rude, but why in the world would you let someone come near your package with a knife? Believe me, if anyone attempted to cut/slice/impale/remove any of my pieces down there, there would be some serious hell to pay. How does one manage to find the courage for this?

    Name that "thing"...

That really was a cool idea. Too bad it is now outdated, would be neat to launch and trap aboard an airship.

    Name that "thing"...

Flying Fortress, what you got there is a P-82 Twin Mustang. Developed after the war as an interceptor. Wacky looking airplane, but I've heard it was scary fast.

    Best Sandwich Ever!!!

Your lobster eating habits sound a lot like mine with crab legs. Ad butter, maybe a hint of lemon, and you got good eating there. Ever had grilled shark? It's pretty good. :) I like beef barbecue, too. Especially ribs :D

    Best Sandwich Ever!!!

What say you all about barbeque? Me, I like good pork barbecue. Shred some up, put it on a bun with some cole slaw, and serve it with a side of fries with some sweet tea. I know a few great places in and around Concord and Mount Pleasant, North Carolina if y'all are interested. Also, thought...

    Uniform Survey In Progress

We go throught the same thing in Civil Air Patrol. The higher ups seem to think that we need to change the regulations every couple of months and it is a hassle to keep up with the current rules and regs. Also, they tend to discontinue the use of different traditions for no apparent reason. The...

Hell No! Unlike the Boy Scouts, my CO is someone my age. I'm the XO, in fact. We're organized similarly to an actual Air Force Unit. Each state is a wing, which contains a set number of groups, which contain a set number of squadrons, whether they be cadet, senior member, or composite. Go to...

    Gun Recomendations

Thanks so much for the advice. It's not that i don't know how to shoot or have never shot before, but it's always been with someone else's rifle, and I just want to get my own. Just came across my grandfather's old hunting rifles and I think I might clean those up and use them, but the Ruger...

    San Francisco Bans Navy Ship

Huey, i never meant to imply that our current military was any less rough and tough, just that society and politicians in general are. I think it is an impossibility to be in the business of warfare and not be rough and tough. But when people start suing coffee shops because they burned their...

    Gun Recomendations

Just checked out Springfield's website. I like the selection. Also, they have M14 and M1 Garands for sale which is cool. Probably won't buy a pistol until I'm at least out of college so I got some time to go, but a rifle is definitely easier to come by. Thx for the suggestion Lawman, looks like...

    San Francisco Bans Navy Ship

Agree with you 100% there, Schnugg. Too much PC makes us weak and whiny b****es. We need to get back to the days of rough, tough men like those who fought WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

    Gun Recomendations

Well, the only problem I have is owning anything labeled as an "assault weapon." Since I am not yet eighteen, I can't own, fire, or even touch one of these "assault weapons" as stated by California law. So Bushmasters, AR-15s, etc. are out of the running. :icon_rage

    Gun Recomendations

Been looking into purchasing a rifle of some kind, any suggestions? It'll be more for target shooting, as I enjoy that and there aren't many close places to go hunting where I live. Also, who else makes M1911's? I've looked at Kimbers and I like what I see, but I'm more into no-frills, exact...

Got Another One I got another one for y'all. It's a little bit more obscure, maybe A4s knows what it is?
  33. AllAmerican75

Where old planes go when they "die"

It's definitely not an F-4 or F-14 because there's no ovular canopy structure in the front. I just noticed that, so I'm narrowing my guess down to an old F-15.
  34. AllAmerican75

    Asvab

Are ASVAB scores considered when applying to the Academy or NROTC or OCS? Just wondering because I got like a 98 or 99 on it and wondering if it could help give me an edge.
  35. AllAmerican75

Where old planes go when they "die"

Damn, that cockpit's got me stumped. Since it has all of the old "steam" gauges I probably isn't a newer plane. It's got a HUD so it's probably mid-seventies or early-eighties. My guess is it's an early F-15 or F-14.
  36. AllAmerican75

Where old planes go when they "die"

That one's easy Fly. What you got there is a couple pictures of the B-58 Hustler. :D :icon_smil If memory serves, it was the first bomber in the USAF inventory to be able to attain Mach 1 flight, but I might be wrong.

Sorry, my bad. But you have to agree, M*A*S*H was funny. Oh, and Fly, one more thing, I like your signature. I never thought physics could be that funny.

    Over There

Too many errors. I also couldn't stand the whole "Vietnam in the desert" approach to the show. Frankly, I'm going to stick to watching South Park on Wednesday nights. But one of the best military shows I've ever watched has got to be M*A*S*H, for no other reason than it was funny.

The Pima Air Museum across the street runs tours via bus in and out during the day. Also, the museum has a huge collection of planes. They even have one of the original B-52s used to launch NASA research aircraft. Neat Stuff! :icon_smil

Where old planes go when they "die"

My uncle retired the last F-4 Phantom in regular Air National Guard service out to Davis-Montham. He sad it was a pretty sad day. I went out there a couple years back, and as a aviation junky, I gotta say, it was "freakin' sweet!" :D

    Hollywood Subs

Oh, about Top Gun, I have a funny story. A while back, my CO, one of my fellow NCOs, and I were having a conversation about adding something or other to our itinerary and whether or not it would be feasible, and I was advocating we do it. And then, my buddy turns to me and says, "Sergeant, it's...

Yeah, I figured some of that stuff was wrong. And when James Gandolfini dropped that poor enlisted man for 20 I couldn't comprehend what it must have took him to get anywhere in the Navy. But the drills and fire sequences where sorta correct and that was what my question was about. The plot on...

    Hollywood Subs

I just finished watching Crimson Tide and I got a question. Is that representative of service on actual submarines? I'm not talking about the plot, as I'm sure it's pretty far-fetched, but are the procedures and terminology right? Just thought I should ask the professionals.

    F-4 Phantom ?

Oooops! My bad, I totally misread the question.

    F-4 Phantom ?

My uncle used to fly F-4s for the Air Force and later the Guard. In fact he retired the last F-4 from frontline service. Anyway, I asked him the same question a while back and he said that the Air Force Phantoms refueled off of the boom and he commented that it was one of the hardest things to...
