The best part? I called the mainside NEX and was surprised to be told they had Sam Browne in stock. I drove by and the "Sam Browne belt" was a "sand brown" (i.e. tan) belt.
I'm saying if you and MB run 7 min miles and I run 8, I get bronze, not silver. You're ranking competitors, not their times. The times are ordered 1,2,3. The competitors are ordered 1,1,3,3,3,3,7,7,7,7,7,7
Cue the NERDS pic.
The cost of the weapon is the a drop in the bucket compared to the costs of switching. Besides, I doubt we have enough M14's mothballed to replace the M16. And why wouldn't you go to a modern 7.62 platform instead of regressing?
Problems = Head Rabbi pissed about too much attention given to gays in the Army magazine, a soldier posting threats on an internet forum, and the shocking revelation that discrimination against gays has risen.....after they were allowed in (or to come out).
That's positively crippling.
What an idiot (Mr. Lardner, that is)
There was so much more wrong with Wanat than that the weapons overheated. That was a symptom, not the cause of the many problems that lead to the attack. To come away from the report with the conclusion that we need better guns is remarkably dense. He cites...
It's not like conservatives took the Nobel Peace Prize seriously to begin with. I suspect his reaction will be more telling than that he was awarded the prize.
But yes, I agree with Jim, it's a "you command the biggest military and nuclear arsenal.....and you're not Bush" prize.
There's a...
Fix the title. No more OCC-AIR for a year. OCC accounts for only a third, more or less, of officer accessions, and it's the easiest tap to shut or slow when the pipe gets full because they have the least invested in you. Sorry you're not getting a shot, but that's the way it is.
It's also 30 min a week for the yut-yut types. I'm cheap and Suzie @ the Whiting BOQ is pretty good even if the NEX doesn't permit any sort of razor fade.
I found a great barber back home that does a straight razor fade (five flags used disposables, IIRC), not that it does me a whole lot of good.

Ok, the pistol isn't anything to brag about and the grip needs work, but let's look at the big picture here.
There are Marine instructors, but AFAIK, there is no set program for Marines to earn a degree expressly for an Academy payback tour as there is in the Navy. You'd have to get it through another program like those mentioned by phrogdriver.
The rules don't seem that draconian. Segregating north/south flow via the east and west sides (as opposed to by convention), mandatory reporting points, mandatory carriage and familiarization with charts, and a uniform 1300' MSL Class B layer to separate local with transiting traffic.
The only...
It's just been rereleased in paperback for $15.

I'm on year 4 of the "those probably will have to get taken out as a precaution, but they're not going anywhere, come see us next year". Hopefully I'll get to the point where it's more a pain in the ass than it's worth.
So how is this different from the respect sailors accord their partners in other services when there's a mishap at sea (i.e. our burial of the crew of K-129 with honors and the playing of the Soviet anthem)? Is it an assumption that pilots and aircrew are volunteers where sailors aren't?
Leadership, Education, and Development. As of a year ago, the curriculum was, PT them in the morning, run them through 4 MCI's over 4 weeks - Spelling, Math for Marines, Financial Management, and Terrorism Awareness, followed by tactics in the afternoon culminating in a FEX.
You're not so much...
so if Vt = stationary tip velocity (263m/s at redline), and
Va= velocity of the aircraft
Vmoving = sqrt(Vt^2 + Va^2)
Which at 190 knots bumps the tip velocity up to 280m/s
It's been a while, but doesn't the T-34 use a constant-speed prop? I think they mean turbine, though I have no idea why you would have a constant-speed turbine or why it'd be noisier.

Not saying it's likely, but it's a bit less than fantasy now.
I'll stack up reporting from a former Marine and other reporters with the cojones to go to a combat zone and observe the world firsthand over your self-assured illusion of omniscience. It's pretty rich that you're calling them clueless.
My ignorance? You mean where I acknowledged that there...
Or we might have found out about the Holocaust far sooner than when it was later revealed. Life's a bitch.
What's funny is, the "fictional" examples you cite did happen. There was antagonistic coverage of Dresden and the nature of the bombing was debated in Britain. There was certainly no...
Bullshit. He was traveling to investigate the well-publicized incident of the bombing of the fuel trucks. Real news keeps us honest. It keeps us from being flat-out lied to about what our forces are doing as in the "Friday Follies" of Vietnam. And if we're on the up and up, it gives credible...
Apples and oranges to compare a slight against the family of LCpl Bernard for a tragedy already done with endangering lives by prematurely releasing information as he (or you) suggest they should have done. The AP held onto the photo until well after the LCpl's burial before releasing the photo...
WTF. Those guys decided not to. An SF recon team in Anaconda made the same determination for lone adult goatherder - they would not shoot an unarmed civilian, taking him prisoner would alert the family, so the only recourse would have been to let him go and get immediate extract, even at the...
Fringe isn't just about advertising. It's about having very common consumer devices supported due to the size of the userbase. Can you sync an iphone with a ubuntu out of the box? What about netflix streaming movies (which require silverlight)? If you buy a wireless keyboard or some other random...
