On 60 Minutes tonight: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6228919n&tag=contentMain;cbsCarousel Sounds like a similar situation to that safety video recovered from the pilot that tried to climb up a mountain past his operating altitude, and stalled out trying to turn around.

Return of Turboprops to CAS role?

The AF has a squadron that does exactly that (6th SOS), but is that a role or consideration for the MAW?
  4. mmx1

Return of Turboprops to CAS role?

The Air Wing does. How long would it take to build, train, and deploy (and then integrate into existing airops) a COIN squadron? We're starting a drawdown in a year or two. You can accelerate it with an increase in cost, but the very argument for a COIN platform isn't that it delivers something...

MV-22 Used in Marine Force Recon Raid - Excellent Details!

SWAG, but their gear looks pretty standard issue; that's the tipoff is my guess.

    Car choice and moving

Why new? I'm a happy Forester driver, and the 2009 model is a huge improvement in rear legroom from previous models. It's a handy, fun, practical little crossover. I wouldn't bother with the Outback unless you expect to be carry backseat passengers regularly. The trim is nicer, though.

    All things MV-22 Osprey

Just looking at the first page I see nothing but JV cheerleading for phrogs. It's stupid whether it's coming from an E-1 or a retired O-6. That said, MCCLL has some good stuff on the nuts and bolts of MV-22 integration.

Don't hurt yourself contorting this into a sodomy issue when it's homosexuality you have a problem with. Slippery slope - you're right, if only we'd prosecute all those damned hetero sodomites, the gays wouldn't even be on our radar. I guess you found the solution.

Don't Ask Don't Tell going away

If this is a terrible time to be deliberaing this, then why has Mullen been pondering this in depth long before the SOTU? http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/04/us/politics/04mullen.html?scp=3&sq=Mullen&st=cse The writing's been on the wall for quite some time.

Don't Ask Don't Tell going away

So, your assertion is that the troops support DADT, and assuming that they do, that should dictate the advice of our leadership? I'm of a mind that doing what you believe to be right, regardless of the popularity, is leadership, but what do I know. What he said was "you set the policy, we will...

    JSF PM Sacked

The F-110/F100 is not completely analogous, though, as both aircraft were initially single-sourced for the engine by P&W, and a competition for a second engine introduced only after problems emerged with the F100. The F-35 has enough budgetary problems to deal with without the added costs of a...

Don't Ask Don't Tell going away

Hey, I've been out of school for a few years. I meant specifically letting a male and a female share rooms (which is new to my alma mater); but yea, co-ed bathrooms have been pretty common in colleges too. Movement was a poor choice of words - there's been a trend.

Don't Ask Don't Tell going away

Umhmm, so show me where colleges are segregating their housing by sexuality- these are the same 18 and 19 year old's, right? There's a movement in some schools to allow co-ed co-habiting by request, but for the most part we're throwing straight and gay students in the same double and expecting...

So for those of you who are insistent on separate facilities for homosexuals, do you avoid public locker rooms because there might be homosexuals gazing at you while you change (and don't pretend you're immune on-base since retirees, dependents, and civilian contractors are allowed in) Where's...

Big Government and natural disaster relief (Haiti from Foreign Policy viewpoint)

Unfair comparisons have been drawn to the 1989 San Fran quake, which killed some 63 people, but the epicenter was 70 miles away from town vice 16 in Haiti. A more apt comparison is the 8.0 quake in Sichuan which killed some 70,000. It was poverty, not culture or government, which aggravated the...

Definitely Tapatalk. AFAIK from the screenshots, TouchBB doesn't have a latest posts feature; you have to go forum by forum, which I never bother to do. I'd probably rather surf on safari since "New Posts" and the front page were my most often hit links. Tapatalk does. And there's a free...
